Post Office Broadband

I have the orange free broadband deal and today got the email telling me I had to sign up for their line rental as well. As I have spent over 2 hours on the phone to the Orange broaband helpline this weekend trying to resolve the fact I kept losing internet (still not sorted, although it does last a bit longer, I might be able to finish typing this;)), I certainly do not want to get their land line service as well. I shall be arguing re mobile contract with them later!
Anyhow, I now need a broadband provider. My landline is through Post Office homephone and it works fine for me and my bills are low. I mainly use internet for surfing and emails, very few downloads, so can't really justify or afford paying a lot for internet. Has anyone any experience of PO broadband, which seems quite reasonable at £8, or can you recommend a fairly cheap provider. I am in a rural area so speeds do tend to be slow.

Broadband is exchange-specific, so do an exchange search on www.samknows.com for your LLU options, if any.
NB: the PO Broadband Standard rack rate is £16.30pm, not £8! On that basis Plusnet Value at £12.99 is a much better deal.

http://www.postoffice.co.uk/broadband-phone/home-phone-broadband/home-phone which says you can add broadband to the home phone package for £8.15. I've not looked into it in any more detail so there are quite likely hidden charges as well.
It seems the packages available to me are BT ADSL and BT ADSL Max. Being a total technophobe I think I might get teenage son involved here. Would you recommend plus net ?

You always get a better deal with a bundle of services, just like with dual fuel. Cost it carefully!

That tariff has a pathetic 5GB monthly cap though-look on the 'details' tab.
Are there any LLU operators available on your exchange?
Factor in a cashback of up to £38 on Plusnet and that helps a bit.

As far as I can work out from samknows there don't seem to be any LLU operators round here no. I did another search through here and it said none of the cheap packages were available.:(
I did notice the 5GB cap, but tbh don't really know what I would need, hence getting son on the case. Plusnet does seem as if it might be the better option though, thanks for the advice.
