Can anybody recommend any trips/restaurants etc..?
We have heard there is a water park there, what is it like?

I was there some years back and I did a tour (via the holiday rep) which was a 2 day 1 night trip, it las long but lovely, we saw an ampitheatre, the salt lakes, the place where they filmed starwars etc, then we went to the Sahara and had a camel rid (bit tacky) and stayed in this amazing hotel for the night which had hot sulpher baths, I think it cost something like £60 each which I thought was very good given what we got.0

That's the Sahara Explorer trip. Threre are two versions. One has a 4x4 ride into the Atlas mountains, which is the better version. The other has a train ride. It is a lot of money for this trip, but you do see a huge amount. We loved every minute of it.
We also went into Sousse, and saw the fort. Used the public transport to get into Port El kantoui, which has a nice little marina. We also went on an African night out trip. My OH had fun banging bongos all night.
We braved the market....got past the sales bods and enjoyed our little walk. Eventually we had to laugh at some of the things the sales people said in the medina. Just be firm with them and you'll be fine.
Enjoy your trip.
Edit: taxis are cheap, but you must barter before you get in. And beware of people grabbing suitcases if you're taking a bus trip to or from the airport. They won't take anything....just charge you for taking your suitcase 100 yards. They assume people have no dinars left and so end up taking british notes...which are worth far more. Oh....and take a pen with you on the plane...you have to fill in a form when you get to Tunisia and they are at a premium.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

can you remember the name of the hotel you stayed in at the Sahara?
I stayed in the amaxing hotel, there were no other hotels or buildings around it, it had an outdoor pool but also an indoor one that was the hot springs pool, it was very dark in there and it was just an oblong pool. the bedorroms were in a morish style and had little patios
It was a very busy hotel, full of just one nighters on trips, I am desperate to find out what it's called as I want to go back there0 -
If you get the chance...a visit to the pretty village of Sidi Bou Said is nice
http://www.tourismtunisia.com/togo/sidibousaid/sidibou.html also Carthage - if you are into history/antiquities. Beware in the markets etc, Tunisian men have trouble keeping their hands to themselves, (in my experience!) :rolleyes:0 -

Can't remember the hotel honestly. Sorry I couldn't be of any help. Would the tour organiser know. Ours was through Thomson.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

Beware of the local men, i was with my fiance and they still tried to grab/touch me in the street. And im no supermodel! lol
Its very very hot, especially if you go to the Sahara, about 50 degrees c. The water park isnt upto much, 3 slides, a lazy river and a wave pool that goes every 2 hours.Undefeated Wii Fit ski jump champion!
