They've charged you the wrong amount still... if you signed up for the 3 day trial at £1.99...
Please note: You can cancel your trial Mon-Fri 9am-5pm. At the end of your 3 day trial, your membership will automatically be converted to our 3 months package.
3 months £30.00 per month Total £90.00 for 90 days
Looking at their terms and signup page I also cannot see any terms relating to the 3 day trial - nor can I see anywhere it says if you 'use' it during the 3 days you forfeit your right to cancel... they state this under their general cancellation section (section 6) which covers DSRs... but I would argue the terms of the trial supersede this...

This is all it says:
3 day trial then just £90.00 for 90 days
'Easy to cancel'
Their terms do not state they require x days notice, merely this:
You may, at any time, terminate your Subscription with us by requesting a cancellation of the Service.
Which to me seems, so long as you cancel BEFORE the end of the 3 day trial you will not be bound by the service. So long as AFTER you have cancelled you do not access your account.

If you are still within the trial period, get the cancellation to them immediately, in durable form (ie email). As per their terms:

This may be done by giving us written notice, calling our freephone number on 0800 987 5888 or emailing us at support@globalpersonals.co.uk.
As already advised, report the 'unauthorised charge' to your CC company.

It's also worth mentioning, many of these types of website have fake profiles to lure you in. If this is the kind of thing you are looking for then search the company on Google first. Although tbh you'd probably have better luck on a std dating website and be forward about exactly what you are looking for. Or Facebook even, which is free - and if my friends anything to go by isn't too difficult to find someone!! :p

• Cheers guys, great advice. What they are saying to me is that 'I didn't sign up for the preview, I signed for the 6 months option'. If I did it was a mistake but I am sure I didn't. They are also saying that they cannot offer a refund as I have used the service (for a day!) and they have cancelled my subscription and I will not be billed any more - but have paid for 6 months! Arghh!!! As they offer no receipt there is no way of knowing, now what can I do?

With regards to the dating - I really don't want it tbh, just a really bad weekend with a relationship I am trying to salvage. Thanks.
• How could I be so stupid. After googling these guys they have a massive record of scamming. I've phoned my CC company and they are going to credit the amount and investigate. You can read about them here - they need stopping!

Just google 'Global Personals Scam' and there are loads of listings. My credit card company are going to send me a declaration form to sign - anyone know if I will be required to do anything else?

If it's just 'on the rocks' then maybe it's better to either end it or try again before heading for the 'slags' next time... :)
