Hi all,
I signed up to the grocery challenge for the first time this month with a budget of £300 for me, boyf and 2 yr old DS... I reckon I should be able to come in well under this but have set it a bit higher as its the first month I have actually tried to pay attention to what I am spending on food!!
Ok, so having resolved to change my ways and actually cut down spending on unnecessary things, here is my first EVER weekly meal plan...
Sunday: Sausage casserole, roast potatoes/mash (depends how lazy I am!), peas
Monday: Haddock, chips and peas
Tuesday: Chicken and Veg Pie (prob with roasties)
Wednesday: Southern Fried Chicken, Chips, Beans/Spaghetti
Thursday: Lasagne (need to buy mince and lasagne sheets)
Friday: Pizza
Saturday: Chicken Pasta (need to buy chicken)
I work part time and normally spend £3-£4 on lunch per day (3 days a week) however, I am not going to do this anymore and have decided to stop being lazy in the eves and make sandwiches the night before
Wish me luck, I will let you all know how I get on next week!
Ta,

Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind

So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

Hello!
Our week will be:
Breakfasts - porridge for me (tesco value) and HM raspberry puree from the glut last year, Mixed meusli & branflakes for DH and DS1, Lidl weetabix for DS2 (too young for meusli and too old for porridge - too much mess at opposite ends depending on which one he is given!!). Toast from HM bread
Lunch - sandwiches (with lots of lovely ideas from the sandwich spread thread), HM soup, sardines on toast, whatever needs using up
Suppers
Sunday - Roast pork
Monday - Pasta, Feta & peas (thanks to fast food thread)
Tuesday - Baked Potato, chicken livers (found in the bottom of the freezer) cooked in a 'tasty way' - maybe with some wild garlic
Wednesday - Split pea & bockwurst soup, HM bread
Thursday - HM Pizza (dough in the freezer)
Friday - Fish & Chips & HM mushy peas
Saturday - HM Hamburgers
Last week went really well except that the Rabbit Stew & dumplings had to be revised as I had no carrots, swede or potato left so I followed the spirit of the site and used up what I had - which was a butternut squash and a sweet potato. Bl**dy awful stew (although the wee-ones & I ate it!) - but it will make a very interesting pie filling, and as it bulked it out so much there was enough to freeze for that very thing....!
Saturday was supposed to be Gingham's cabbage pie - but by that stage DH was in rebellious mode and insisted on chops from the freezer... so this weeks menu is very much DH in mind.Is it home time yet?0 -

Hi, as this is my first attempt at the grocery challenge I thought I would be better making a meal plan (and sticking to it!!!) I've also done a bulk cooking so a lot of it is already made and in the freezer. I have to say, it feels great to be this organised so early in the week. What will I do with all the free time I'm going to have this week:rotfl:
Sunday - (Out most of day) HM Soup and Crusty Bread
Monday - Roast Chicken, Potatoes and Veg
Tuesday - HM Beef Stew and Dumplings, Roasties and Veg
Wednesday - Spag Bol, Pasta and Garlic Bread
Thursday - HM Chicken Curry and Rice (From leftover chicken on Monday)
Friday - Lasagne, Roast Pots and Salad
Saturday - Fish, Chips and Mushy Peas
Thanks for all the posts and the fab ideas! The person who says it can't be done is likely to be interrupted by the person doing itDFW Nerd 480Proud to be dealing with my debts0
