    You talk about nitpicking...

I ask the OP a simple question and you come up with some garbage.

I'll leave you to resolve this one.

    I'm out.

I value your opinion even though I don't always agree with it.

Clearly she has not joined. We will find that out if and when she does try and join again.

But iF the OP has sent you a pm to say they allowed her to join then clearely I was mistaken but I can only presume that you have the same information as the rest of us.

You two are great for the site but nitpicking is of no value and it goes on far too much in this section of MSE.

It's very clear who is nitpicking. The OP has been informed by DW head office that they can join without their ID being photocopied. It's a non issue...why are you widening this out and making it something it's not?

I just took it word for word that the OP had a option and as far as I'm aware the only option mentioned was that she did not have to have it photocopied.
Surely you have been around long enough to know that you cant just rely on one call to head office when it's head office that probably told the receptionists that all documents must be photocopied.

Why quit chaps ? A healthy debate is good for the forum and you cant expect people to agree with you all the time.

and I thought these forums were to help people - not to have a dig or joke at their expense!!

2 thanks for an unhelpful comment says it all!

I for one (if I felt their request was unreasonable) would have just said thanks but no thanks.

The OP doesn't have to go to that gym (as it happens they might not have to leave all the ID) but the gym needs to have ways on combating losers trying to duck their contractual obligations.

There are too many threads on here where folk take out annual memberships then come crying wanting to end the contract. I know gyms aren't blameless but I imagine their actions have been driven by necessity in many instances.

No sympathy for the gyms from me. It is any means to get an annual contract and lock people in when a monthly PAYG contract looks far more appropriate.

Your locked in to an annual contract on many things though insurance, mobile phones etc.

If people don't want an annual contract they can either walk away or negotiate a monthly contract but of course that will be significantly more expensive, so people opt for an annual contract which they never use. That is not the Gym's fault.

The same thing has been going on since the 80s when I learnt how to deal with it, either use the local council facilities or don't go to a gym.
