Glasses are very complicated, I work at Vision Express and am surprised with what you say, that's a very big price difference, are you sure its the exact same frame and as good a quality lens? Although I can't see exactly what you spent it sounds like you could have been entitled to a free second pair at Vision Express as a promotion? And most importantly take care because glasses purchased online don't get fitted when they get posted to make sure the vision is corrected properly which is very important.. hope it all works out.
After spending a lot of money with vision express over the years, i have now gone elsewhere with my OH and DD as we have had no end of problems with them getting our prescriptions wrong so I have sympathy with the Op. have now gone to Asda and had brilliant service at a fraction of the price with no "hidden" extras.0 -

I buy my glasses online and all you need is your prescription and your pupillary distance. Both can be found on your prescription (which I have done on the High Street)."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0

There is often a lot of cost in the lenses e.g. ultra thin, protection etc, they are often a lot more than the frame itself. that price doesnt seem bad to me, although I like to get two pairs when there is a deal on (I go to Boots for mine)0

Glasses cost around a fiver to make!
Granted the machines involved to cut the lenses cost a small fortune.
I've always bought mine online and then gone to local opticians and ask them to adjust the arms if need be.Helping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz0
