    Agreed.

    s 170 (2) Road Traffic Act 1988

    http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1988/52/section/170
170 Duty of driver to stop, report accident and give information or documents.
    (1) [definition of "accident"]
(2)The driver of the mechanically propelled vehicle must stop and, if required to do so by any person having reasonable grounds for so requiring, give his name and address and also the name and address of the owner and the identification marks of the vehicle.
(3)If for any reason the driver of the mechanically propelled vehicle does not give his name and address under subsection (2) above, he must report the accident.
(4)A person who fails to comply with subsection (2) or (3) above is guilty of an offence.

If he has been threatened on the doorstep he may wish to contact the police who can issue a warning to the caller under the Harassment Act, which means that if they call round again they can be arrested and prosecuted.

I'd just give name, reg, contact number and insurer's details. That's what I pay them for.
Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?

Looks like giving name -contact number -reg and insurance details is enough if you then go on to report it to the police .
Also my friend did report his doorstep visit to the boys in blue who advised him to contact them again if there was any more visits .The next visit was when my friend was asleep and woke up to damaged property so another call to the boys in blue who informed my friend that without PROOF of who caused the damage they could do nothing .

You also agreed to abide by the rta when you got your licence. That states you must give your address.
