Are they all bad? I am looking to switch from EON and looking at Edf and First reviews by some customers is putting me off switching.

I guess there is some good and bad experiences but overall are you happy with your energy company?

I was with E.On until May of last year. Very content, but couldn't afford to stay. EDF were considerably cheaper (I prefer fixed tariffs) and I am just one, of what appears to be many, who have been driven crazy by their inexplicable direct debit adjustments (up 6 times out of 6) every time they get a reading, even though I have been paying enough to cover my usage.
They used to be very difficult to get hold of, with endless waiting on the phone (which is fortunately freephone), but in recent months this has improved whenever I've had to call them.
Their latest tariff is very competitive and there's no penalty if I leave, so I'm sticking with them on the assumption that it's better the devil you know....

Been with Scottish power, southern, npower, edf to behonest didn't have an issue. Always pay my bill and give regular reads
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Based on Customer Service, I would avoid EDF and NP.

I used EDF at my previous house and they were fine. When you say "First" - do you mean "First Utility?"

Based on my own experience of customer service i would highly recommend EDF.
Some have problems but the vast majority do not.

They all have the same issues but some more than others.

The big 6 are more likely to understand the industry given their history, with Bgas more likely to know more about gas than elec. For simple issues though, its less likely to be an issue.

Protect yourself by taking readings, never allowing Deemed (estimated) switch readings, read the t&c's, understand their complaints policy, etc.

also check the hours they have manned phones especially for prepaid meters as you do not want to be stuck with no gas with a meter fault at a weekend if they have no out of hours service for such.

Just call national grid emergencys out, reporting a no gas situation and they will attend

National grid emergency service DO NOT deal with meter faults we will come out and make safe only we will not repair a faulty meter. Please do not follow this advice as it will NOT deal with the issue of call help, battery failed etc on your pre paid meter and you will still be off supply as it is an issue or your supplier to deal with via their metering asset management company.

Not only will you still be off supply, you will have wasted the your time waiting or the emergency engineer and that of the emergency engineer thus putting someone with a genuine risk to safety in potential danger,
