My Simply reply is : in 2005-6 I have been offered Credit Card in HalifaxLondon Branch - and they signed few papers I never knew about repayment Coveror PPI , I know there are some interest charges but not repayment cover, and I don’tknow since when they taking money out from my credit card named as repayment cover / PPI, Thats why I think it has been mis-sold or imposed indirectly without my concern.

There appears to be no wrong doing there from a documentary point of view. You are making an allegation but it is not one that is likely to be supported by their paperwork. So, what do you have to support your allegation?
Now you will ask, do I have any proof or evidence that I have been mis-sold PPI – Now you tell me how can I arrange evidence ?

With weak complaints like yours you typically cant. Which is why most of them that only have unprovable verbal allegations will fail unless there is another failing.
What If I contact with CMC to sort out this matter rather then DIY.
CMCs use the same free of charge complaints process as you would. How do you expect them to succeed in a complaint if you have no reason to complain?

You say the bank signed few papers; did you sign any? If you did then I don't think you can plead ignorance by saying you didn't know what you were signing.

I'm afraid I have to say I think your statement above is very rude considering you are asking for free advice. This forum is far from useless. Many of us on here have found help, when in difficulties, from total strangers willing to give their time to help fellow members. If you don't always get the replies you expected or like it's because, sometimes, a little more information may be required before advice is offered. I must admit I have found some of your posts a little difficult to understand but I think the link I have provided will give you some advice which you may find more agreeable.:D

    Hi all,

I've also received this letter today. I'm a little surprised; I didn't know I had PPI on my Halifax credit card. In fact, I recently checked all my credit accounts for PPI as I've always believed it would be difficult for me to claim on such policies and therefore they are pointless for me, so wanted to be sure I hadn't had them added to any accounts without my knowledge. In the case of my Halifax credit card, which I opened in September 2007 (I believe online), none of my statements specify the cover so I didn't investigate further, but it appears I do in fact pay on average £7.80 a month for it.

It wouldn't surprise me if the OP wasn't aware of the PPI on her card given my own experience.

    Was that too harsh?
  • Hi all - I have read the posts regarding the PPI Reclaim's and am trying to help my husband on a DIY reclaim. As a previous person with a Halifax Credit Card, we didn't realise that he was paying PPI charges as it was referred to as repayment cover and a few months ago a letter came through to state that his PPI was being transferred to another company. I rang and was told the repayment was PPI charge. I told them that he would never have cover as

    1. He is meticulous in clearing his balance and
    2. He has been out of work a couple of times from 2001 when the policy was taken out and if he'd knwn he was entitled to anything he would have applied - however, even on these occasions, he still cleared his account.

I used Martin's template to recover copies of the original agreement, which is signed by him, yes, however, has a tick box on which he didn't personally tick. We believe that someone has got him to fill in the form and then they have ticked the box - although, no doubt we can't prove it.

Does anyone have any further help. I was going to write to the Ombudsman and include copies of all correspondence. We feel that that the policy was mis-sold, but do you think we have any chnce of getting him refunded. He doesn't have PPI on his other credit card and would never take this type of insurance.

Thanks - PS. I do appreciate any advice:D

Not only would he never have cover if he cleared his balance, he'd never be charged any PPI!
PPI on a credit card is charged as a percentage of the balance on the card. If he did pay charges then he didn't clear his balance and he would have been covered!

Look here for valid reasons for complaint:
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-credit-card-insurance

But do realise that even if a potential complaint is upheld there will only be a refund of the amount of PPI actually paid (plus 8% simple interest). If the PPI paid was minimal (as you suggest) any payout would reflect that.

You can't do that until you've actually made a complaint to your card provider and have received a full and final response. Go to the link I provided above and follow the procedure...

Based on what you have said, he hasnt being paying PPI. It is only charged when you dont repay the balance that month.

You cant prove it and it doesnt matter anyway. It is very common for the tick to be made by the sales person after discussion with the account holder.

As he hasnt paid a penny in PPI, why do you want to write to the FOS to get a refund of £0? Not that you can go to the FOS like that anyway. You have to go through the complaints process first (although, as said, it is a pointless exercise).

All he needs to do is cancel the PPI. There is nothing to complain about as no premium was ever paid. you cannot refund what hasnt been paid.
