Wow, so many people in on the B vits secret! Jury's still out on it though, yesterday could have been a fluke! You're right though Lara, I way over-commit - need to get that in check before Sept.

I think you're allowed a bit of stress eating at the end if your PhD - I can't even imagine how fraught it must be. I'm hoping to go on to a masters next year but can't see myself getting to PhD level... although I love the idea if being Dr Tete! Loving the sound of daily cake :D

Just hiding out in the car before my class, eating a sandwich. If I'd known it was going to be held in my old building I wouldn't have done it- I always see someone I know here - typical when you're trying to do something in secret! By rights it should be dead as it's summer! At least it's the last one :) and I can get back to my Wed night running next week :)

Yay! I'm a confirmed offer person as of last night :) Chase up your Uni Tete, it's such a glorious feeling when you get the GTTR email and then when you go online, the site says "Congratulations!" :) Little things please me....

I spent today teaching Latin to 15 Year 10s with another teacher and I am so glad I'm going to teach primary....they had all chosen to spend the day doing our course, but a couple of the boys had picked it because they didn't want to do German. They were right PITAs and disrupted the class more than I was happy with, and I did split them up to their dismay, but the other teacher (who has 30 years experience was okayish with their behaviour - but then later told me of the sort of treatment she's had in other schools: being punched in the chest; having fruit thrown at her; a hose turned on her, so these annoying boys were !!!!!cats....). Personally, I wanted them out of my classroom - and the language teachers were happy to take them off our hands! I guess for the other teacher it was a matter of professional pride.....not something I have yet ;)

Anyway, despite the little brats, I LOVED the day! After 2 lessons, we split the group into those that wanted to learn and the 5 naughty ones, and I took the bad boys to one side and did more primary level Latin with them, worksheets with pictures of cows, mice and elephants :) and taught them how to sing happy birthday, and the other group did much harder work.

It's going to be boring being back in my office tomorrow......but not long now before my first placement :) and hopefully they won't be anyway near as irritating!

P.S. Tete - THANK YOU for your lovely emails, I've been pricing up bulk packs of post-its, lol!

Yikes, well thanks for the encouraging post Kitty - I'm sure not all teens are that awful though  the ones I've met so far have been fine. Congrats on the firm offer though :)

Right, fashion show time. One of the things I need to sort out before September is make sure I have a wardrobe of school-suitable clothes which don't require too much maintenance (i.e. ironing!). One thing I'm lacking in particular is a grown-up winter coat. My ones are a duffel coat and a parka, both of which I love, but ... I don't want to look like a pupil. (I'll also be looking at the year as a kind of year-long trial - you never know when a job might come up in that school or a partner school, so I want to make the right impression). So I've been having a little look in the ASOS sale at coats, and narrowed it down to these three:

What do we think? They're not uber-smart but I want to keep a bit of personality as well...

    Also love this skirt...

I don't like the first 2 coats, too mannish and shapeless (I just don't *get* the whole 'look like you're wearing your boyfriends clothes' trend, nothing fits properly and it looks really unflattering!)! The third is best but not totally sold TBH. :)

The skirt could look nice with the right outfit but it could run the risk of being grannyish if you're not careful and you don't want to be mocked by the pupils! :)

Haha the first two are the ones I like best! The skirt is not necessarily for school, just for me :)

Well in that case the skirt is a go-er! And rethink the coats... you're too lovely to hide under so much wool! :)

Sorry Tete, hope it didn't come across too negative! It wasn't really :)

I like the skirt and agree with Birdie about the coats, and you've made me wonder if my one waterproof jacket (quite a bright green and navy blue) is too outlandish or okay for the playground. I might need to get new clothes hunting too!

Tete ignore them they have no sense of style!!! :rotfl:

I love the skirt and am having trouble deciding between the last 2 coats. I love the second one but it would drown me (I'm quite short) so on you it would be much better. I'd be tempted to wear a belt with it though to give it some shape.

I like the second coat. The first one is *almost* really nice - not sure from the pic if it's too baggy for the model because she is so slim or if the cut is a bit funny. Have fun shopping! I'd love to have long legs to be able to get away with that skirt. ;)

Aww it's so hard to work today, I just want to finish now and I have been skiving already!!!!!

Nice news today - a family friend had her much-wanted baby last night. She had the longest and most unlikely route to pregnancy, and when all seemed lost, she miraculously conceived naturally. Miracles do happen!

I just ordered the second coat and the skirt in the end :) I love the first one but they only had black left and I liked the grey. Kitty I'm sure your coat will be fine! It's just I can look quite young and want to distinguish myself from the 6th formers :o You need easily washable stuff as you'll be covered in glue the whole time :)

Can't believe you're short Star you look quite tall to me!

Lovely news about your friend Lara! What did she have and what did she call it? Hope the work is going ok... I have a paltry 3000 word portfolio to write up from my study skills class- it won't take long but I can't seem to get started :o
