Eeeek! I feel like I should have shared in H*drin we use so much in this house! I never had them til DD started bringing them home from nursery and now school on a regular basis........yuk.
  • Does that stuff work as a kind of preventative I wonder? I'm thinking in the future, I wonder if I could use it once a week to keep them at bay..? Anyway, I think I've escaped unscathed this time - head was itching like mad last night but I've been OK today so it must have been psychological! :D More of an update later when I've had a cuppa and recovered!

Apparently tea tree oil or lavender oil are supposed to be good at preventing them coming, but in our house, they're definitely regarded as an old wives' tale.....!!! I'd suggest combing through with a nit comb regularly, depending on how long and thick your hair is, it won't be too hard and will make your hair feel nice and sleek, don't worry about putting nit stuff on unless you know you have the little blighters.

Hope you've had a great couple of days in school - can't wait to read the updates :)
  • Spending more time trying to shoehorn this blimmin personal statement into the little box than I have writing the blasted thing! If there was a tearing-your-hair-out smiley I would insert it here. GAH!

  • Oh mah god it is done! I lost all sense of what I was trying to say after reading and editing my statement a bazillion times but I'm happy with it. It's written from the heart and certainly scans a lot better than some of the ones I found on the internet so I can't do any more. I've sent the reference request off, and the lady I've asked (former senior colleague and former teacher herself, now an education consultant type) says she's delighted I'm doing it and I'm wasted in my current job so hopefully she'll write a good one for me :) Phew. Want to do a happy jig but will refrain until it's all submitted properly.

Hooray! Really glad you've got your statement done, that was definitely the hardest part!! What a great way to start your week :)
  • Hmm so Reference Lady hasn't done her reference yet :undecided - I did say to her that submission deadline is tomorrow evening so to please have it done by tomorrow morning so I can pay and submit it, but she hasn't even replied to my email so I'm wondering if she hasn't even seen it yet! Oh god I hate relying on other people for things. Going to give it til teatime and give her a call :undecided :undecided :undecided

Well done for getting the statement done! :T Hope you get the reference very soon!

Re: Nits. I wouldn't use the proper solutions as a preventative, the more you use them the less likely they are to work apparently. My teacher friend has tried them all and they tend to only do the job on her hair the first time she uses a certain brand. Best thing to do would be to use a shampoo with tea tree in it, or make a spray with tea tree oil for use after washing. Keep your hair tied up and use lots of hairspray. I seem to remember that they don't like hair dye so you've got that going for you too! Just a good comb through on a weekly basis to keep check on it... and accept that working with kids is going to give you nits at least once a year! _pale_

Urgh, and now I'm thinking about it I'm all itchy!!! :o

 Are you asserting that my luscious blonde locks are not altogether natural?! (Which reminds me, haven't seen a pic of your hair yet...!) Oh god though, all sounds a bit grim. Guess I'd better get learning some up-dos!

Had a few more ebay sales the last couple of days so will do a bit of a money shuffle later. Also need to sit and make some Xmas pressie lists - I have ideas of what I'm getting for people flying around my head but I need to get them down on paper and decide how much to spend on everyone.

Reminds me, got an email this morning with money off codes for various places (most notably ASOS, who also have free next day delivery til 5pm today :o) - http://www.vouchercodes.co.uk/christmas-petrolprices.html

Errr... there's no way I can get out of that! I only know that you dye it because you told me...! :o I work with a girl with the most beautiful natural golden blonde hair, the kind of colour you'd pay serious money to achieve, and she's so not bothered, she just slaps it back in a ponytail every day! What a waste!!! :p

As for my hair, there are no pics yet as it needs finishing! Decided the ends weren't light enough (stupid dark hair) so adding more blonde tonight, then there will be photos (possibly wearing my awesome Christmas jumper!) :) Was quite disappointed that no-one at work noticed, not even the women I sit next to! Suppose that means it looks quite natural though! :p

Thanks for the linky to the discounts, really need to do some shopping! So far I've bought a nightie for my SIL and that's it!
