I have the email alerts set up, so only go on when I get a new alert.
    Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac ;)
  • Been out the country so long I only just discovered the RightMove site. How do I gauge say the least expensive part of Wales to purchase a small cottage for example? Then I would try to get the hang of the alert service mentioned in the previous post. Thanks for any help.

When we bought, I looked at everything currently listed. Then I set up Rightmove email alerts and just looked at new listings as I was advised of them.

We had specific criteria and wanted to get something at a good price. When ours came on the market (cheap as the sellers were desperate), I got the email, called the agent, viewed it that day, second viewed it the next day and agreed a price that day. Job done. :)

No point spending hours looking at the same listings over and over, unless you are genuinely looking at a house again to see if it could fit your needs.

Every day without fail, to search for the ones in the last 24 hours. Then new ones within 3 miles in the last 24 hours. Then new ones in the whole county in the last 24 hours. Then all houses in my price range that are houses ... in the last 3 days.... in various locations.

I'm not obsessed. I'm just looking in case a lovely house comes up for sale that is where I want to be and at a price I can afford. Mostly though, the ones I spot are £70k more than I have.
  • Far too frequently...

...as if my going on there a lot will help to 'edge asking prices down' :o

Checking RM for new properties in the last 24 hours is part of my morning routine. Mondays are disappointing though as there's usually nothing new until later. Roll on this afternoon!
  • When I was looking for a house the first few weeks I'd browse for maybe an hour a day and then once I'd seen everything in my price range I'd just check the new stuff each evening.

    This exactly!!!

I check it several times throughout the day despite getting emails from the popular agents in the area so i know what will be appearing on RM later :rotfl:

    I am obsessed.....or desperate....
