JSA - separate rules per job centre?

So many things go in cycles. It was all weekly signing back in the 70s. Maybe we're on the way back to that.
Back then there was a 'ceiling' to prevent people getting more in benefits than they did working. It sounds like something similar is on the way.
Perhaps Earnings Related Supplement (ERS) is coming back too.:rotfl:0 -
I seem to remember something about new claimants (possibly under 25) having to sign on weekly. So she could be telling the truth and the other jobcentres have decided to ignore the new rules.
You can if you wish to, transfer your claim to Dagenham branch they can't stop you doing that, but make sure you get the correct process explained to you because transferring between jobcentres is usually where claimants get caught up in red tape and end up with their claims closed and have to claim again.
FYI when making a new claim they can allocate you to a particular JC, you can object and insist on going for interview at xyz JC but equally xyz JC can refuse your claim when you arrive for initial interview, for being from the wrong postcode area. If you have been claiming at the wrong JC before, then a rapid reclaim to the same JC would be ok, otherwise you should seek permission from the wrong JC before claiming....
Start the process on the day you sign at Barking, hence, giving them the most time to get it done correctly0 -

It wouldn't be the first time something new has been - not so much ignored, but - delayed according to staffing situation or something. You can if you wish to, transfer your claim to Dagenham branch they can't stop you doing that,
That might cause other issues if the current one is seen as the most logical.0 -
I am 28 and when I signed on recently I was told to go weekly. They mumbled something about 1-13 before moving on which I presumed to mean weeks.0

Jobcentres in most areas are free to set their own rules regarding signing, amongst other things. If you have been informed properly of your signing times then it is well within the rules.
And yes they do have the authority to make you sign daily.0 -
I have been told today that I have to sign on daily (from fortnightly) nothing to do with my situation a decision of the job centre manager to make everyone sign on daily!0

It must be a very quiet jobcentre, there's no-way they could do that in one of the bigger jobcentres, the queue would be round the block and how would they purport to be able to give customers time to show them jobs which might be available...they couldn't.0 -

I would guess that the Job Centre manager's intention is to flush out the claimants who cannot spare the time to stand all day in a queue....0 -
Bus fare to my nearest job centre is £3.50 return. Daily signing would be a fair chunk of benefit.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
