Ebay at Easter?

I'm really sorry if there is another thread asking this - I tried searching and couldn't find anything.

A question for the more seasoned ebayers - have you found that Ebay is busy over the Easter weekend or really quiet? I would like to post quite a few things finishing over the weekend as I'm off work for a few weeks and so have a bit of spare time to get all the things to the PO if they sell.

Thanks for your help.

Not sure about Easter in particular, but I found half term recently pretty busy so I'm hoping the next couple of weeks will be good.
  • Whenever I'm listing auctions, I try to bear in mind the likely type of buyer of the item, in terms of sex, age and what they would commonly be doing at the time the auction ends. I'd then check with things like TV listings magazines to make sure that buyers won't be "distracted" with other things. For example, by watching the England football match, when they could be buying a whole lot of replica football shirts from me.
I usually try to avoid finishing auctions when major football matches are taking place, when the big soaps are on the tellie, and times when people are just about to leave work.
Good end dates/times for me have usually been on Wednesday or Thursday evenings at 8:15pm or 8:45pm. However, I do auction some business items too, so these are listed to finish during office hours, say 10:45am or 3:45pm.
I also purposely avoid major holidays, as I find that people are either away on holiday or away from ebay.
I sort of assume that frantic bidding for an auction item can add anything between 30 and 60% in the final hour or two of bidding, so I really want lots of people to be looking at my auctions in the last few minutes.
I also use a fixed end time/date (such as precisely 20:45pm), as I think bid snipers can remember that time better than an odd time such as 20:17:33pm or whatever).

As a seller eBay can be DEAD at certain times of the year. Conversely as a buyer - it means loads of cheap bargains as no one else is bidding. Depends also on the category and target audience... YMMV

I have found Easter to be one of the best times - practically every shop is shut on Easter Sunday - so people don't go out as much - and if you happen to get a rainy Easter all the better!!

But since they aren't 18 I'm sure none of them bid on anything with it
