as Middlesex no longer exists Ashfrod falls within the administrative remit of Surrey County Council and is now regarded as being part of Surrey. http://www.surreycc.gov.uk/maps/surrey-interactive-map
I am sure the residents are eternally grateful for that as the option was being part of Hounslow London Borough
as a resident of next door Staines (upon Thames please :rotfl:) I can say that the local paper covers Ashford and it does not disproportionately feature above anywhere else. Feltham was the one with the reputation although that too is now improving
as for the OP, whilst applauding your research questions about where are the council estates , that is best solved by actually visiting the area in person and losing your bigoted view of all council estates
if you are worried about crime then check it out on the offical statistics website -

Hi I live in TW15, very close to where you listed.
I moved from Pimlico in central London in February so bear in mind I was living in poshville.
Ashford is UGLY (sorry but it is), however, it is nice. Its very close to some lovely places and a lot cheaper than them to buy in.
Rents are overpriced (just bought from renting).
Trainline to London is congested and expensive, but runs to time and handy as it goes straight to waterloo. I travel to Feltham for the train as you get far more fast trains from there.
We tend NOT to be under the flight path, although actually we are at the moment on odd days as they reflowed the system to get more flights in for the Olympics.
It is nicer than Hounslow or Feltham or Hanworth of Bedfont all of which are pretty scummy in my experience (OH got an egg thrown at him on our cycle home through Hanworth on Tuesday).
There are some teenagers, most of them are okay actually. Low level crime but nothing you dont get anywhere. No gangs of hoodies so far.
Its 99% safe, I feel fine walking around in the dark on my own as a female.
Everyone is very nice and friendly if a bit nosy compared to London.
No council estates nearby that I know of, but Feltham Road is quite busy with traffic.
Pavements and roads are shocking in general.
I wouldnt choose to live here, OH's work means we do, but actually our new flat is lovely and its fine as places go.
If you want to know anything else then let me know. :cool:0 -

As a resident of Walton on Thames, Shepperton, Ashford, Staines etc will never be a real part of Surrey. The postal address for Ashford is still Middlesex. Should have been Hounslow as it's 'over the river'. Also adding 'upon Thames' to Staines will never make it better.
OP if you want to move to the area try Walton on Thames, or Weybridge or parts of Shepperton are ok. Ashford is a bit near the airport and as mentioned above, a bit near to Feltham which really is rough. I know because I work there.0 -

agreed - that's why I started with "moot point"
but given the anomaly between a Middlesex postal address and a Surrey council tax bill you can appreciate why the OP listed it a Surrey although the train companies will (correctly as far as I'm concerned) distinguish it as Middlesex
as for Walton, I'd take Weybridge any day0 -

Agreed. Was only kidding about Staines, it's actually a much improved town from years back. Gets bad press still from Ali G and da Staines Massive! The town itself is quite nice and the 2 rivers retail park is handy for parking and a quick shop. Ashford town is a bit lacking but still seems to have quite a few independant shops rather than the chain stores. There are a couple of Estates there but they are easy enough to spot on the map. Avoid Staines Road West if you can, cheaper flats etc but on a rotten road that gets very busy.
Also avoid Stanwell, which is a small village next to Ashford which is very rough, or at least used to be.0 -

I have this feeling your OH works at Bronzefield or Feltham boys town0 -
Lol Jamie no, just a random egg throwing! I don't think anyone hates their dentist THAT much
On other areas, I do like Walton and Staines and Lower Sunbury (I think that is what it is called) and Shepperton Village. Charlton is nice too.0 -
Yeah Lower Sunbury is nice, just not many houses/flats there and the ones that are there are expensive. Charlton Village is nice when driving though, apart from their cash cow speed camera, but the bits behind the main village are quite rough.0

I've only ever run through Charlton, so have to admit that I dont know what's off the main road there. The pub always looks nice0

Thanks Becky for a detailed reply. Is the traffic (especially heavy goods vehicles like lorries) on Feltham Road so busy and noisy as to keep people awake at nights? I heard that around 250 persons living on that road had signed a petition to curb the noise, danger and disruption caused by heavy good vehicles on Feltham Road. Do you have any idea about this?Hi I live in TW15, very close to where you listed.
