Ashford (Surrey)

Can anyone here throw some light about Ashford (Surrey) ,
TW15 1AD area? Is it a safe area to live in or buy a property? I have seen the police.uk site but I need some information from people who live there and how safe they feel.

I lived very close to there, one of my sons lived in the town, I have another son that still lives very close, It's as safe as anywhere else, a good high street with FREE parking (even a free multi story car park). Obviously very close to Heathrow but not excessively noisy. Nearest A&E at St. Peters in Chertsey, schools are varied as is everywhere else.

I think you will like it there.

Thanks jamie11. I have read conflicting reports about this area on 2 different websites which has left me totally confused. One which says that this area is full of teenage hoodies creating problems:
    http://www.chavtowns.co.uk/2009/02/ash-worst-village-ever/#comments

And another wesite which says people are happy to live there:
    http://www.findaproperty.com/wordonthestreet.aspx?edid=00&salerent=0&areaid=0076

    Don't know what to believe.

I used to work in that area and would say it’s no worse that most places in that area better than quite a few.

That was a few years ago so it could have got worse.

That first link is not Ashford, the second link is.

I think you have to take that Chav website with a pitch of salt.

I know Ash, Ash Vale very well and it is no where as bad as the picture painted and I can think of hundreds of worse places to live the other side of the A331 where one of the posters lives being one of them.

I'm not local to the area, but I don't think Heathrow's traffic will be a nuisance there. The place is not immediately adjacent to the runways (like Bath Rd for instance is), nor under the flightpath. Hounslow, exactly below the approach is noisier, even though the actual distance to the airport is similar to Ashford.

Are there many council estates in Ashford (Surrey)? If there are, then which part/roads are they on? How is it possible to find out which areas have council estates before buying a property? Because those areas can give rise to a whole lot of security problems.

Would a property having a residential care home for old people just opposite cause any problems?

Are you worried about tearaway OAP's?
  • Ashford is in Middlesex not Surrey. It's not a bad place but like anywhere has it's rougher areas.
