£30k Profit in 2 years through Ebay

Options
Hi Guys

I tried this a few years ago but got to busy to complete it but i am giving it another go.

I am looking to clear £30k profit in 2 years from Ebay sales with strict rules in place.

My start up float is a change pot which i have added up and stands at £25.34 and i can only use this and funds generated from good sold that i already own.

Is it acheivable ? I don't know but it will be fun trying.

I made it to just over a grand last time but had to stop due to work issues but am ready for another bash at this as i could do with the money and have a bit of spare time on my hands.

I can see a few things have changed on the sticky threads since when i last did this and so will read through them to make sure i am up to date with tax and things but will undoubtedly keep you all updated along the way (if you want me to that is?)

Right I am off for a sort out in the loft to get some things i have ready for listings.

Wish me luck

Slade

Even making it to a grand the last time is commendable, I wish I could do that!! :D

Call me picky;) but I'd guess it depends what you own as to how much you can get. If you've got a Picasso knocking about you might get there sooner than most!

There's been a couple of books on it and I started a similar idea myself a while ago but stopped in a similar way.

I may try it again soon for charity and see where I get to. Good luck.

I'd say it was achievable if you started with say £500 to get a decent running start - but then as RFW says above, maybe that will be just one sale this free listing weekend if you happen to own some expensive stuff.

I have made approx £400pcm selling on Ebay since May. 30k in 2 years seems ambitious though unless you are doing it full time.

I recently ran an ebay shop (still do actually, but am winding it up.) I bought job lots of bnwt clothing - all branded with desirable brands and from either bankrupt stock or shops closing down etc. I then split them and sold them individually. I made about £3000 easily in 6-8 months. The pain was for each item, having to iron, style, photograph, re size the pic, upload to photo bucket, create a template, upload to turbo lister and list. Then print invoices, address lables, pack and post each item and update the listing.

All this for each item, that may only net a profit of a couple of quid. Its a lot of work! The only pluse is that most of it can be done from your armchair, lol. Still, shows that there is still money to be made!

I just don't have the time anymore so I will be winding things up a the end of the year and seeling my remaining stock as a job lot.

^And for exactly the reasons that Olias describes, plus fiddling about with lots of returns, I'd stay away from selling clothes.

30k is very achievable. I sell wholesale (not clothes) and started with less than £100. I don't just use Ebay now, but sell 2k a day on there. That isn't profit, my margins are low, but it is achievable.

Sold a poker table and pack of cards to a friend last night when going through part of my clearout so now am up to £45.34 for the start up float.

Just going to the local car boot and then on to the local sells everything big store to pick up some bits for £1-2 which i ahve bough before and then doubled my money on.

Once i get the float up to £500 then i can really get rolling with some ideas i have but don't want to get ahead of myself and ignore the smaller opportunites.

    See ya later

I think 30k is perhaps a little optimistic but you can definately turn a reasonable profit if you know what you are doing. You will need some dedication and commitment!

I started my little business with a £200 tax rebate and now clear approx £1500 sales per month, profit approx £500-600 (depends on the month - I am having a blinding August!)

You are going to need to know your market as buying dud items can be an expensive mistake. I have never made a loss, but selling an item for what you paid for it plus fees is not very satisfying!
