I am sorry you felt my reply was rude. I stated both that your question has already been answered in my original post AND I provided the answer again for you. I also put a smiley face to suggest I am trying to be polite in my answer. Why ask the question "did this come from the job centre" if you already knew it did not from what I said in my original post?

No, I would not have answered the same to an interviewer as I did with you. An interviewer would have a purpose to ask me an already answered question. Maybe my answers were not fresh in his/her mind, perhaps he/she wanted to see if I would answer the same as I did previously, or perhaps he/she just wants to add pressure to the interview by asking lots of questions. In your case, my answer was written in the message above yours, for your immediate access.

    I answered that above :)

but if like me you didn't miss the answer in the post but were just making sure of the answer and wondering if there was anything that was missing or needed adding to better explain the answer than I'm happy to do that...

You said the business were the ones who offered you the interview, I did understand that from your first post but I was wondering if, as it has been know, it was the jobcentre that had known you had a CV on file, in the said company so had either seen a vacancy there or asked them to interview you etc As your stated experience/skills seem not a very good match for the job on offer.

With you being unemployed for so long the jobcentre do do these kinds of things.

I was genuinely thinking it might have been the case so was asking you to confirm it.

People are all different, whilst you might say the business had asked to see you and meant that, someone else could have said the same thing but on someone asking questions, it could have turned out that, yes the business had ask for the interview but it was only after the jobcentre had got involved.

With or without a smiley face I wouldn't have answered someone trying to help me that way but hey we are all different.

Here are my customer service experiences:

    - Working briefly at an IT help desk, I logged calls and emails on a computer system and provided assistance if I knew the answers
    - Directed internal and external customers to the correct people at my first County Council job.
    - Selling
    - Provided an IT repair service to my local community
    - A few photography jobs
    - Graphic design jobs

If this job is out of my league, this is fine but I will try. If this is a sales account job then I probably would be no good, but if this is an administrative job dressed up in a sales environment, then maybe I have a chance. I have no idea what an AS400 is but it does sound like a computer system or database of some sort. I have a number of qualifications but my best is a BSc in Business Computing.

Should I ask about this at the interview?

To be honest, I have no idea what half of this means! I am just going by your link and a quick google to see who they are. It struck me that they seemed to be looking at sales and accounts management, which would make sense if they are part of a bigger group. But perhaps you could do some reserach on them yourself before the interview - I spent minutes on it, so you might come up with more information that could be useful to know.

OP hasn't it occurred to you that if you can't understand the job description, which is quite simple and straightforward, you have the slimmest chance imaginable of being appointed to the post.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

I do understand the job description to some extent, but that's why I am on here, to seek further information on this description. What I will do is do more research on the company. It would have been good if someone replied here who works/has worked in a similar role and could give me some pointers.

Reading between the lines in that job it sounds rather like an admin ast dressed up as an exec. It seems you'll be doing helpdesk stuff and just putting things into reports which is pretty simple. Perhaps they will train you up on the software they're suggesting. I would go along for it and and say you're very keen to learn and would be a useful asset to their team, it really does sound like someone with reasonable IT skills and the ability to put info together for other people to read could do it. By the way adverts are often written in such a way as they are ads for the companies themselves, so instead of saying it's a basic job it looks much better for their competitors if they write their adverts to look like they've got top execs, when really it's admin. Also it depends who writes these things, I used to proof read our job adverts in the universities and the guy who write them used such outlandish English I'd be sat there with a dictionary trying to work out what he'd written. It never matched up to the actual job!!

Thanks Elvisia, that was a helpful reply :) I shall say in the interview that I am keen to learn and that may go someway in a positive direction. If I don't get the job, then I've tried and that's all I can do :) Thanks everyone!

If all else fails point them in the direction of this thread, you never know, if nothing else it shows a willingness for the job.

    Good luck.

Is this BSc from one of the noddy unis or a proper one?.

The job is admin with analysis exactly the sort of thing business computing should be about.(as well as other stuff).

looks a step up from what you have done so far.

Sound like you should be right for the job, actualy should be a doddle if you are any good. admin with some challenges to stand out and make a difference to the business.

suprised KPI was a new term for you.

Why are you still not sure what AS400 is you should have googled this by now.
(it was 2 hours between posts)

    Research the business inside out

goggle every term you come across.

    Report back on AS400.

One other thing this is in Norwich.

That limits their ability to attract people with the right skills/potential.

I would suspect it is an oversold telesales job.
