I lurve Mies van der Rohe's Mondrian and Barcelona chairs. I don't like Eames chairs with all the bent plywood and 70s padding, myself. None of them would suit our decor

A cello would be fab.
In my study I have a saddle rack with a saddle on it and an old Remington typewriter.
Not having any luck looking for brown fabric/tweed tub chairs. Wondering whether I could get a couple of cheaper chairs and get them reupholstered ??? Also thinking about Harris tweed cushions.0 -

I'm not so keen on those designs. I lean towards comfort first
And I can imagine sinking into this of an evening in a softly lit room;
My house is gradually evolving into something that sort of straddles the decades. So I've got a mixture of finishes and styles, old and new, but lots of very natural materials and colours. And a recurring motif of trees/the forest. I can't imagine having everything matching from the same range, it would look like an indentikit house to me, but I know people whose homes look just right like that. Same with big, bright, heavy patterns and florals, they just aren't me.
It's simple enough to recover a tub chair, though. It's on my list of stuff to do, I just need to visit a haberdashers - but there's a good place round the corner from me (the sort of place that can make up fifteen foot long curtains and suchlike) - I'm thinking of tweed, too, as I love the fabric and the way it ages. But I have to eradicate beige everywhere first.
The typewriter sounds very cool - I used a manual for years after electric ones came out as a kid, but they seem to be a designer item now. So out of my range.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

I'd go with reupholstering one too.At least that way you can have exactly what you want

I'll be doing that with my dining chairs (ones with fabric covered backs) as could never find exactly what I wanted!
Jojo,I have ended up with a bit of a tree theme lol quite accidental too,I didn't even realise until I was looking at all my bits the other day.Every room has some form of tree related print (well,will do once I've finishes).I do love trees though and sought patterns that weren't floral (far too many bold floral prints around.some are lovely but it's not really me).Had milder floral prints before but always played against them with wide horizontal stripe curtains- worked quite well.
You pair have me looking for chairs now!If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0
