The Dining Room

Poppy9 - nice idea, OH thinking of doing that with the huge chimney breast in the kitchen which must have had a range at some point. We looked and looked but modern ranges, Aga/Rayburns are too tall as well as eyewateringly expensive and we're not in the country anyway.
FatVonD - er I can't play cards and I think a 1950s bar would be OK if we had a games room but unless we get the huge loft done we don't have room. Husband has a Chesterfield obsession so no room for one in his den either.
Looked at Argos and Homebase for chairs and totally uninspired. Last time I bought from Marks and Spencer ££££ though.

I like the Ashton chair0

Fire Fox - The short wall just wouldn't accommodate all the books, I have er thousands. I thought about putting them in my room upstairs but I'm worried about the weight.
My dad has about 4000 books in my old bedroom upstairs - standard wooden floor.0 -
It's an old house with old floors and walls and I wouldn't like to risk it unless an engineer says it's OK.
We haven't been using the room since it was replastered last year and today found damp on an external wall
No damaged brickwork but the external air vent was clogged up with !!!!
DIY ground to a halt. heater in..0 -
I'm thinking of putting the games table in now (or keep it in ds room given how big his room is,but downstairs it would get more use!) and a tub chair instead of another sofa.Would then be a dining/study/reading/non-technology distracted area with an added games table lol
Only thing is I can't decide on colour- black to go with sofa, plum to go with the feature wall, curtains, some accessories etc (would look nice with the plum if I put the christmas linking between the two rooms?) or a light-mid teal to go with the few accent pieces to add a little 'freshness' to the colour scheme?
Rooms will be silver-grey with plum feature.any ideas? If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -
I'd have a place for all my instruments and scores, an Eames chair for listening to recordings and some well planned acoustics.
And Shegirl, I'd go for teal to liven it up. It's a games room, not a bedroom, after all.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

I agree
and the splashes of teal really do liven the colour scheme up so it can be relaxing without dull and too relaxing lol
How many instruments do you have?
Think I need to stop being such a Christmas nut and trying to plan around the Christmas tree  it's always tempting-I can't help myself! If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -

Ummmm...
3 guitars. Soon to be 4 or 5.
My bass.
Keyboard.
Ukes.
Assorted percussion. Djembe, bodhran, tambour, etc.
Various small stuff. Harmonica for those Zeppelin/Neil Young nights at the club.
Still waiting on a trumpet to come up (learned it years ago, but used loan instrument; that kind of thing comes in handy sometimes at gigs)
An omnichord thing. The illegitimate offspring of a stylophone snd sn autoharp. But that should be traded with a mate soon. In exchange for a cello. I don't have space for a double bass. Technically, I don't have space for a cello, but it's 3/4 size and I'm not that tall, so it's worth a go.
And there should be a cajon box drum that's being built for me too. That's by someone who is thinking about getting into the custom market, so would get exposure every time it's used at a gig. But I'm getting it for free in exchange.
And I always did fancy having a piano. That's not on the list now, but if this is Fantasy Music Nerd Interior Design, I'd have to get one.
But the Eames Chair is vital. The easy chair with footstool. Preferably tan. And that would be mine, all mine.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

That's a nice collection

All I have left is my keyboard
I WILL have a piano one day though and I've always wanted a harp-purely because it would look beautiful as a display piece!Jojo_the_Tightfisted wrote: »Ummmm...
