Well kind of forgot about this thread as I have been caught up on a BB forum about the playbook.
My playbook was picked up as I mentioned and was promptly returned a few days later. It was the same playbook ( serial#) so mines was a repair job.
It works fine now but it will now not charge to 100%... so it remains to be seen how long it will last.
I can't complain about the turn around and repair from Blackberry but the whole affair was a bit of a long process for what is becoming clear (from my participating on other forums) is a fault with the battery.
Will I still be a BB user..... nah....Once bitten twice shy and after also having problems with one of their mobiles a year or so back I think I'll give my playbook to my nephew and move on.0
