Quidco Dishonesty

I feel like Quidco are deceitfully doing me out of cashback and I don’t know what to do. Normally I would just give up at this stage but in this instance it has really annoyed me.

In March I placed an order for Sky through the cashback website Quidco. The cashback amount offered was advertised as £100.
A few days later I contacted Quidco as I was concerned the order had not ‘tracked’. Quidco advised they would need to wait 19 days before informing Sky of my claim.

Sky later denied this claim, when I challenged this with Quidco they said they would ask Sky to reconsider given the evidence I had provided. However this week Quidco have sent me an email, declining my claim for any cashback without providing a reason. All this despite me providing screenshots of every stage of my order, beginning from Quidco’s website showing the cashback offer, all the way through to Sky’s order confirmation.

Given that I purchased the Sky package after factoring in the cashback amount I really do feel cheated, and given that I documented my complete order I think it is obvious that at least one party is acting dishonest. Is there really anything I can do at this point?

Thanks for reading.

  • Other than to keep pursuing both parties (Sky and Quidco) there isn't much you can do. And... that's why the advice for cashback is to see it as a bonus not a right to a purchase you were making anyway.

How strange, I had a fairly good experience with Sky and Quidco. Sky money tracked at a different amount than was advertised for me. I thought, maybe they changed it. I forgot to pursue it. 6 months later, I got £25 cashback from Sky. I thought ah they realised their mistake, and I now have it :D

I would continue to pursue it and make sure you've provided the correct information.

But as Martin says never factor the cashback price into your purchases, just in case of things like this happening. Think of it as a bonus, if something else was cheaper before cashback, then you take the risk of cashback not tracking if you go with the cheaper after cashback option. I've had a few purchases declined before, but I didn't factor in the cashback when buying it, so it wasn't too annoying.

    Keep at it.
I recently took out a contact with Virgin, and it was declined; I raised a case and it was paid last week.
Contradictory to the "advice", I view the cashback as part of the transaction and a deciding factor on choosing a purchase.

If it was adverstised as part of the deal, then I would think it forma a legally binding term and not just something that Quidco could decide whether or not to honour.

If I bought a new car and it was listed as having free fuel or free insurance for a year, I would expect these to be supplied so why should cashback be any different?

I never got my Sky cashback either - nor the M&S vouchers Sky advertised at the time. Quidco can't pay out if Sky don't give them the referral fee.
  • I am in the same boat as well.
There is a guy on another thread asking anyone with the same problem regarding quidco and sky to pm him.

Isn't there a quidco thread on here where the company representatives can look into things for you? Might be worth a venture over there - that way you might get a decent explanation as to the reason for the cashback being declined so you know what other options you've got.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

I took out Sky last week through Quidco, and needless to say it hasn't tracked. I have raised a claim however feel its too early to tell if this is going to be a long hard struggle to get the cashback. What sort of timeframe are you all on - has it been several months before the claim was declined?
  • Thanks Elsien I have posted it on that page. I will keep this thread updated if I hear anything. I am doubtful however.
