Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 24th August. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in,put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, soplease don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you goto bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
Oxford was wonderful we did the tour bus complete with guide wearing trousers, tights, blouse jumper & anorack, she was very worried about me as I was wearing a strappy sun dress, thanks to hubby's inimitable map reading skills we managed to see everything on my list, I am fascinated by the fact that he always knows which way is north, I have problems sorting up from down.
Todays plans include sewing & ironing, hubby will potter in the garden no doubt.
Two letters from SS, one saying please fill in these forms & return immediately, one saying please don't fill in these forms until we let you know our decision!
Have a lovely day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Good morning Hester, Lacemaker and to all who cross/follow,
Quite cloudy and a bit chilly today. There are some blue skies in the distance so it may brighten up.
Hubby had to take my car to work today as something has gone wrong with his. I can't remember what he said was wrong with it but more money to pay out.
I have got to get the ironing done today. I haven't got too much to do so it shouldn't take long.
Tea tonight is chicken breasts (stir fried with red onion), jacket potato and salad for hubby and one dd and other dd and myself have got lasagne (made and frozen) with salad. Using up odds and ends from the freezer.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

Sunny at the moment but showers expected so not risking a load in the WM.
It's my Dad's birthday today so I shall call round to see him later this afternoon to drop off his card and some slices of the Malteser cake I made the other day. Before that I'm off out for lunch with my friend to a vegetarian restaurant. Despite me being the veggie, it was her who suggested it, and I've never been there! :rotfl:.
I had £20 leftover from last months wages, so last night I decided to invest it wisely. I went to tesco and bought 10 x tins of kidney beans, 18 tins of chopped tomatoes, 2 bag of oats, 4 bags of pasta, 4 packs of spagetti, 2 bags of rice, 6 bottles of squash, 4 jars of curry sauce, aong with 2 bottles each of washing detergent and fabric softener, 3 x toothpaste and 3 x baby shampoo. All of it was value/cheap brand. But it will last me months and means I can relax knowing I have food in even when money may be tight. The only problem I had was where to store it a, but I found homes for everything!
OS wise - dishes to wash, think I'll go blackberry picking this morning on my walk/jog so I can make a crumble, HM curry for tea.
Have a fab day all

Drizzling away outside, I think the gardening can wait!
General tidy up will begin shortly followed by refitting a zip in a dress I bougt (so lumpy - not sure how it passed QC)
Everyone is still asleep and will be until at least 10 (school holiday luxury) which is so annoying as i'm always full of energy first thing and want to get the hoovering done, but I don't think i'll rattle their cages
Gosh just had a quick read of the "what happened to the OS board" thread  Pretty unpleasent atmosphere in there - I expect people are feeling more stressed with all the rises in living costs. I just closed the tab quickly - i'm like the dinosaur in Toy Story - I don't do confrontation!! :rotfl:0 -

The local stay cat has just turned up for his breakfast. Our own two cats have not even eaten yet, But the local stray is now enjoying and big dish of food! I'm not even sure were our are at the moment as they have been out all night.
Today we are off to my wife's Nan's house. It was her birthday yesterday so we have cards and gifts to take.
Lunch today will be pizza and salad for the four of us., Not sure what we will be having for dinner tonight.
Its Got to rain here most of the day so I don't think we will be doing a lot. iv got an ebay item to wrap up so I will get that done.

Looking dismal outside and we have to wait in for the window surveyor. I know that it is an expense that we could do without, but the French doors and windows are rotten and can't be patched up any more so I keep telling myself that it will save on the heating. He is going to quote for the other 3 small windows that are still wood too, all the rest is DG all be it very old DG, we will change them all over as and when we have the money, luckily this chap has no problems doing one window at a time.
Free insertion on ebay this weekend for anyone who wants to sell something.
Oh well I had better get showered and dressed, have good days all xBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Morning :hello:
Urgghhh, mites. Just dusted the chickens, I'll have to go back out in a bit to empty, clean and spray their shed.
I'm mad at mr tru. I can't stand spicy food - the hottest thing I've ever eaten is curry sauce from the chippyHe roasted some toms with garlic and onions, I had a taste and nearly went through the roof - he neglected to tell me that he'd put his super hot chillies in as well. I was sure my tongue was about dissolve. I have threatened to liquidise his chillies and drip them into his eyes when he falls asleep.
I've soaked some spice jars to remove the labels, they were old and tatty. I'm going to make some labels and tie them on with string. The jars look very fetching atm - I've used bright green and pink post-its as temp labels
Neighbour should be round at some point today to cut some slabs and lay them. It depends on him getting the disc cutter.
