Does anyone have the Sony Ericsson W880i?

I'm due an upgrade at the beginning of next month. Currently have the K750i which I love so I want to have another Sony Ericsson

I narrowed it down to the K800i or the W880i but was swaying towards the latter because its got twice the talk time and is half the weight

The K800i has a 3.2 megapixel camera with 16 x zoom and the W880i "only" has 2 megapixels, but I have a good digital camera so that doesnt worry me

K800i has bluetooth and infared , the W880i only has bluetooth, but not fussed 'cos I dont use either :rotfl:

And I'm not at all worried that the W880i doesnt have an FM radio

Having seen them both on the O2 shop today I'm swaying even more towards the W880i because it is so much smaller!

I cant find out anywhere is whether either or both of them have the Easyshare facility like the K750i?

And it says the W880i doesnt have an internal memory - that's not a problem, is it? I assume it just means that all phone numbers are stored on the SIM and all photos, media files etc are stored on a removable card?

Any pros and cons of either phone would be appreciated!

Thanks :o

i also think the w880i has 320*240 video recording, while the k800i only has 176*144.

personally, i would go for the silver w880i. i think it looks better than the black one

I like the silver one too, but I'm with O2 and they seem to only have the black/orange one

Hey. I have the W880i (10 days old it is now)!

Previously I had the SE W800i, which is pretty much the same as the K750i in a different colour, so I know exactly where you are coming from.

I was in your position, but the W880i was the only option I could possibly go for. When you compare the K800i and the W880i next to each other, the K800i could EAT the W880i three times over!

The W880i is tiny, slick and very stylish. Definately go for the silver! You'll find its got everything you need, yet its so much smaller! You wont even feel it in your pocket.

The 1GB Memory Card is where everything is stored. The phone does have 18MB of internal memory, but the memory card is more than enough for everything else.

Pro's - aside from the standard features which you expect.

    - Small & Thin
    - Extremely stylish & very well built. Feels quality.
    - "Track ID" feature - very cool!
    - 3G Phone / Video Calling
    - Text Message inbox can store thousands of messages!!!! Bonus for me!!
    - Menu & graphics have improved. Much cleaner and graphically enhanced.

    Con's

    - No flash on Camera.
    - No FM Radio - but you can buy the radio headset if you're desperate.
    - Other people will want to steal it from you.
  • I too am keen to get this phone, but am switching from a blackberry and work are fairly insistent that i have push email. SE says this phone does have push email - is there something that the blackberry does that the SE won't on the email front?

That's very helpful, thank you. I'm not bothered about the lack of camera flash or FM radio so I think I'm definitely going to get the 8800i :T

    hi alias,

can i ask you a query with regards to the w880i? can you store text messages on the memory card? or is it just on the phones memory only?

    thanks

Actually it is all depends on what u need for yourself. Phone company produce phones with different specs to suit different people's need.

If you emphasize on camera, then K800 is the one to go. If you prefer smaller, and more handy phone, then w800 is the one to go. Also I think W880 has better sound/mp3 quality as compared to K800 as it is a walkman series phone.

By the way, interested to find out what's the package like for getting K800 and W880 in UK? I mean the cheapest...
