Anybody knows?
I want to set a pin lock on my sim. Tried 0000, it didn't work. Two attempts left.

Edit: ignore this. It's 1111. Thanks google.

It annoys me that there is a default PIN. A unique PIN should be enabled by default and printed on the outer card that you snap the SIM card out of. Customers would then change it to a PIN of their choice. This is what happens when I get SIM cards in most other countries. It's mainly the UK that uses these thief-friendly default PINs.

This would make sense only if the sims were supplied locked.
Most customers don't set up their sim card lock anyway. If they do, they are asked to enter the PIN and are likely to change it.

I'm away at present and don't have that with me (might be at home). Orange will tell you - once you've got past the "what phone is it" nonsense and they finally understand what a default pin sim is. I set one immediately on every new contract and a separate one for the phone. Always amazes me that many people don't or even realise that they can.

Yes, that's exactly what I meant by "A unique PIN should be enabled by default". If the customer had to enter a non-default PIN every time they turned on their phone, they would soon change it to something memorable to them.
