My dog used to (try to) carry my cat around all the time - the dog was a German Shepherd cross and my cat was small (but fully grown)! The cat was not impressed usually but sometimes just put up with being dragged around the house lol. It was never a problem though, the cat clearly had the upper hand in that relationship and he'd always let the dog know who was boss if he didn't want to be carried!

Hi, I thinks springer spaniels come under the gundog catagory so like carrying things around retrieving birds etc, some dogs carry their sticks and newspapers on walks, so maybe your dog thinks the kitten needs to be carried aound :) will probably carry on till your kitten says no more.

Our dog used to carry the cats around when they were kittens, she still does try with the smaller one but as she is a small terrier she finds it quite hard! She wouldn't let them in the garden or up the stairs for ages, and would just keep taking them back to her bed. She still gets distressed if the smaller one goes out the front and the cats are 3 now!

Thanks everyone, so I shouldn't be worried then? He is neutered and she is quite little, although he has to hold his head up so she doesn't drag along the floor lol.
They do love each other and are constantly playing, I just wasn't expecting to see him carrying her around!

My cat does something similar with one of her favourite toys, a sewing measuring tape. Her head is up high but she still trips over the trailing part. :rotfl:

IMO don't worry if their relationship seems positive and no harm is coming to the cat. The kitten will make it known if anything hurts.
