    It appears that this company are charging people for email and address details that they then sell to marketing companies.

    I have to say, I try to never give any money to anyone who can't provide an address and phone number that stack up.

    If you are ever in any doubt do a web search for the company and always always check the contact details, my rule of thumb is;
    NO verifiable contact details NO SALE:beer:
  • I signed up for the magazine for £1 and then cancelled by phone and email.

    I wasn't charged the £80 for the magazine.

    It took several months, but I received 2 cheques for £10 each after sending the petrol vouchers.
  • My OH was taken in on this scam and the magazine turned up. When I saw it I called and cancelled the same day. I was told to keep the petrol vouchers as a thank you and that would be it.

    My OH was checking the Bank account this morning and noticed payments of £79.99 going out to MGI on the 28th July and again yesterday. She called the bank who checked and informed her that it was a payment to MGI Recreational. This would appear to be Sapphire magazine with free petrol vouchers that was cancelled back at the beginning of this year.

    Will have to see what the bank will do now but I do think I still have the email they sent confirming the cancellation. :mad:
    Bloody daylight robbery.

    Particularly see my post #12

    Why not contact tony hetherington of the mail , there is a link there.
    They are now advertising for more staff for this scam in Cardiff.
  • I recently started to teach my sister how to use a computer, taught her some basic browsing. She asked me about internet banking, so I go online with her and we set it all up. When she recieved her pin and reader I am teaching her how to see her statements when I noticed irregular payments going out to MGI of £6.55 and79.99... When asked she didnt know what they were so I immediatly phoned the bank to get these stopped. I'm waiting for the bank to get back to us. Then I see this thread, how do they get away with it. They have taken £844.47 over 17 months and she has had nothing in return..
  • this promtion is still carrying on. managed to stop transaction by cancelling card so they can,t take the money
