Which fan stops? CPU fan? Case fan?
Whichever it is, fit a new one, they're cheap enough and easy to fit. If it doesn't have a case fan, fit one.
When the weather's hot make sure there's plenty of room around the case for for air to circulate.Je suis Charlie.0 -
It's an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4500 series. The fan tends to stop when the temp reaches 100 degrees.
Radeons do tend to run hot. I am not certain but I do not think these types of cards have fans which is probably part of the problem.Total Debt Feb 2012 [STRIKE]£12,153[/STRIKE] 10674 16.5% Paid

This has happened to 2 of my laptops, I'm not a techie so took them to Crazee Computers in Morrisons in Enfield, it cost £20 for diagnostics and then £70 for them to fix it (£20 was refunded), I think they took the back off and gave them a clean, probably very expensive for what they had to do but both laptops are working well now!
About right TBH. I do a service which involves cleaning out the heatsink and fan assembly as part of it and I charge £30 for that. Whilst some laptops make the access ridiculously easy, such as Acer, others require an almost full strip down and can take a good half hour.0 -
Sounds like a problem with your fan. As others have said, it might be just be a little clogged up with dust, or you may just have a general fault.
Usually when running applications which require high graphics, will make your computer run faster causing it to heat a little more than usual.
You should maybe try a cooling stand if you don't want to go into to much costs with repairs etc. Heres one from argos to give you an example of what to look for: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/105622/Trail/searchtext%3ELAPTOP+FAN.htm
Take note of where your vents are on your laptop, and where the vents are on the cooling stand.0 -
A couple in love's advice might help with a laptop, but the OP has an all-in-one computer.0
