Other people are equally welcome to make informal enquiries if they wish.
Yes, Phil, so do the other candidates, and that's why there's an application stage followed by an interview stage.
Informal enquiries are fine, but you don't sound like you've just been making enquiries - you've been kicking up a fuss because someone who was probably twice as busy in their manager's absence wouldn't make an appointment for you to meet the manager just so you could ask about something not relevant to the job. Most things can be dealt with during or after the interview. Generally, the informal enquiries pre-interview relate to job-related issues.Debt at highest: £6,290.72 (14.2.1999)
Debt free success date: 14.8.2006 :j0 -

I'm going to say this one last time then go and get a very very stiff drink - they are not allowed to be negative about a disability unless it would be dangerous to have you in the job.Debt at highest: £6,290.72 (14.2.1999)

I have not applied for many jobs and so I don't knpw 100 per cent how it all works. I have had a few disability problems before in interviews and that and one employer not being able to help with access at an interview because I only declared when I was offered an interview.
So I thought dream job for now is on the table now and I will go all out with full openess. And I just took objection to Spam being linked with disability after I had extensively dealt with HR and I assumed the dept would know I would be in touch.:beer:0 -

Okay I see, so there is no reason then that I should not get an interview because I have had some concerns over disability as that would be illegal.:beer:0 -
You know what, now I know why the department are probably not that keen on seeing me before an interview because it would been seen as unfair on other canidates for me to have anything like a meeting with anyone in the employing department and that is why all paths go back to HR as they are the only ones who can talk to me without giving me advantage.:beer:0

Phil - for someone doing a degree you come across as being very, very dim.
Why would they want to interview you first, before everyone else, just because you are disabled? A disability doesn't give anyone the right to be put first.
You can kiss this job goodbye - you made a fool of yourself.
Cut the attitude and get on with it.
I am joining the others for that drink, since we are all wasting our time and energy trying to help you. You don't want help, you just want someone to mollycoddle you into a job.
Now we await the new saga tomorrow, that runs into pages and pages and pages.0 -

I have not blown it I hope and I am drafting a nice email to get me back in the good books.
I do not want an interview first but according to the HR office and job discription it is acceptable to ask to review access, therefore, I can take back my words and still have honour and say the fact Spam was mensioned to a request that is allowed, is slightly confusing.
I hope that makes my concern look normal and gets me in the good books once more.:beer:0 -

It was the HR people that have offered me a pre interview meeting with the department where I will work but the department where I want to work does not seem forthcoming other than they are not sure if I am a spammer.
