I have an overdraft with Barclays which I've never used and got an overdraft with lloyds which I won't ever use either.

But last few days been playing about with lloyds online banking Etc and seeing what's available as you do.
Started off in may with a £100 OD then upgraded my account this week(dont ask why) and upped my OD to a £1000 so started playing again last night and upped it again to £2000 accepted online.

Logged on again this morning it said upgrade OD so thought what the hell as use my phone for all Internet it said upgrade OD so thought pushing my luck now and pushed in 3k and that was excepted straight away,I will stick to this but I just wondered how do they determine your OD was it from account activity or when you opened the account and what other members have played about with lloyds overdrafts and got large overdrafts.

Ps I am standing here ready to push it even more but got a sneaky feeling I've took the pi*s abit.
Cheers

It let me go to 3k despite my Lloyds account being barely used. It is quite old, I suppose. At the 3k point it was still offering to upgrade but won't actually do it (it gives an error message, rather than telling you it's denied, but it means the same thing). I've since reset it back to a normal amount, but there doesn't seem to be some magic formula for determining the up to 3k point, unless you are able to go beyond this having not used your account much either.

So we are now to understand you have an overdraft of £3k but according to you its something that you would not use.

You really need to get out more boy.

No mate nothing went on any of the CRA's.

Overdrafts must be on account conduct and that alone.

When I upped my OD from £500 to £1,000 they asked me to call them. They wanted to know why so much money, over and above salary credit, was going through the account. Explained it was the same £1,000 being cycled through vantage accounts and out to reward and back again.

They then accepted it with no other questions. Never use it, it's just there in case.

I've tested the water with these to much this month I was reasonably happy with my £100 when account opening but after the 3 month period thought I would try my luck knowing full well I didn't need the OD but it's nice to have.
