Flight Tax

I beleive that in order to 'avoid' the iniquitous ADP you have to have at least 24 hours in the non charging country. Looked at going via Dublin or Amsterdam to the far east some time back, recall that accommodation costs would outweigh the tax savings.

That is only the case if all flights are on the one booking. If you have two separate bookings, there is no minimum stopover required (although my caveat above still applies).

If I was an MP getting pre-written template letters, they'd be going straight into the "ignore" pile!

Then they are not doing their job. An MP cannot choose to ignore any letter.

The same pile that the non template letters from constituents go into then!

But it's the passengers that pay the tax!

No. I got a personal response from my MP when I emailed them before - I'm sure the vast majority do the same.

Well yes, but BA get paid the tax from us, and then pay on our behalf. As their fares are tax-inclusive, they could very easily just raise the price of their fares to slightly offset the drop in tax and the average person would be none-the-wiser. And I'd be shocked if any airline doesn't do that (what with fares being highly variable anyway, it would be difficult to work out if they have or not anyway!).

Says who? And who are you going to complain to about it anyway? You'd have to complain to the MP in the first instance, and by virtue of doing so, you'd no longer be sending in pointless letter templates so in that scenario I'd personally respond at that point anyway.
