edf or not edf?
Hi Peeps,
ive been thinking about moving dual fuel for a while (never have before) im on npower standard tarrif estimated 3076 kwh year leccy 6727 kwh year gas with a big credit on the account -(i know i should get it out but its a nice buffer im probably gona need soon)
anyway seen martins big tips on the edf blue and thought ok ill have a look came out 3rd place on simply switch and its not too much more than im paying now even with the credit with n power so i was about to do it when my partner told me all about the troubles she had with edf n got a massive bill that they never could understand
Ive done some reading on tweb n i dont like the look of them - **loads** of complaint about problems with meeter readings after switch over. bit disappointed but i think im gona give them a wide birth.
Does anyone here have experience with edf ?
Thanks for your comenets
Dave

I switched to EDF almost a year ago after reading in Martins email that they had the best fixed deal at the time and have had a nightmare with them. as soon as my deal expires at the end of September Im switching back to Scottish Power, never had any problems with them in the past.
The electricity switch was fine but the gas was a different story. Although I was putting meter readings in every month I could never get a bill so although my account was showing £300 in credit from the DD I had no idea what I actually owed and if I would get a huge bill at some point.
I must have rung/emailed/used live chat at least 20 times and kept getting told it was a known problem with switching gas accounts and would be sorted shortly. It took me 10 months to sort out, that was only because I managed to get a managers direct phone number in the end and I finally got a bill last month. fortunately the DD covered what Id used so no huge bill.
It also said on the bill that they were going to increase the DD from £24 to £35 from September which I was fine with, then when I checked my bank statement a couple of weeks ago I noticed theyd taken £77 DD, no idea where this came from as I hadnt had any notification.
I would say dont touch them with a bargepole unless you are prepared for a load of hassle0 -

Hi there
I debated just the same tonight as with Southern Electric and not happy with the impending prise rise. I have bitten the bullet and decided to go for it. Basically you always hear of poor service but never of good and if you aren't happy then you can always change again providing you don't lock in. Also my father in law has been with them for about 3 years and has never had an issue so that's what convinced me.
Good luck with your choice.According to ABBA apparently it's a rich mans' world . . .:p0 -
I'm with EDF and had no problems whatsoever.
As someone mentioned, you hear about the bad more often than the good on the internet.
Good luck with the switch whatever you decide.MFiT - T2 # 64start date: 1.7.09 MFW end date: 31.10.17

That's yet another case of a switch where EDF set up the elec but not the gas.
They clearly have a process problem there.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -

All going fine so far with my switch to EDF
Admittedly I've not got to even providing the meter reads yet (due in 1-2 weeks) but fingers crossed they will use them correctly.
Good communications so far.
Got the welcome email and the cooling off period.
Got told the monthly DD charges they will collect. (Not been given the start date yet of the DDs though)
Can check progress online.
They gave estimated switching dates. Note the gas is about a week after the electric. Don't know why, but that occurs with other suppliers too sometimes.
Then got an email (when cooling off expired) to say all was progressing ok.
A quick check online also confirms the switching dates are still on target.
So far, all going well.
Will be sure to let you all know if the cards do ever come tumbling down.0 -
No major problems here with my swap or D/D.
Well none that i have had to droll on and on about for the last year irritating all and sundrie....0 -
Switched 12 months ago, the electric was set up straight away but the gas is still not sorted, I had no opening reading for most of that time and now they have entered a reading from my old meter, which means that my current reading is a lot lower than the opening reading
I pay my DD's and keep an independent record so I know I don't owe anything so I am not that bothered providing they are cheaper than the others.
