I am thinking of doing this rather than pay £500 to add DD to my policy for remaining 6 months.

I have googled and found three companies which are all around the same price £81 for 28 days.

Any recommendations?

Thanks

I've used Provisional Marmalade for a similar situation recently. We didn't have any reason to make a claim so I've no idea as to what they are like should something like that arise.

Are you actually saving money? £500 for 6 months on your policy or £81*7 (£567) using 28 day policies.

Maybe the OP only wants a short term policy which may not be available on her own policy...lots of maybe,s there :D
  • Collingwood do a specific policy for learner drivers. Judging by the amount you've quoted I guess you've found them.

Yes because I am hoping she will have passed her test within 2 months. As she is not having her own car but is going to share mine I then need to find a policy that allows a young full licence owner. I've been quoted over £2000 with current insurers so to me it makes sense to take a temp. free standing policy for 2 months while she continues with lessons and then look for new policy if she passes.

Direct line my current insurers charged me £74 to add her for one month so I have done that.

  • The beauty of Provisional Marmalade is that they provide stand alone policies so if you have an accident it doesn't affect your no claims if you have an accident whilst instructing.

I did ask Direct line this when I rang them and they said if my vehicle, which is insured with them is in an accident I have to inform them even if I do not intend to claim from Direct line as all insurance is based on full disclosure.
