Huawei Mobile MiFi - lost it now what?

Bought one of these from the Three Store on a pay as you go basis with about 12gb data preloaded. I had used up 4gb when I lost it.
I contacted Three and they have sent me a replacement SIMM card which they say will let me access my remaining data.

The problem is that they won't sell me a Huawei E586 on it's own - I have to buy it as a package with data preloaded.

What I want to know is if I can buy a new one and instead of putting the SIMM card that comes with it in I put in the replacement card I have received: I need to use up the data before the year runs out. I would then want to put in the other SIMM card and use up the data on that.

I just need to know when the clock starts running on these pre-loaded plans:

Is it:

1. From the date of purchase.

2. From the date of first activation.

3. Something else?

Anyone?

It runs from the date of activation.

No need to buy a MiFi from eBay when you can buy one from Three for £49.99 on a one month contract and then cancel immediately.
At least that way you get 5GB to use for a month, before you go back to using the rest of your 12GB package.

    £15.99 a month.
    £49.99 upfront cost

    Here

If money is tight, the Huawei E5331 is £20 less. Black too

Good tip - thanks! Re eBay - there's one of these on there at the moment finishing soon and it's already up to over £40 Inc delivery but with no data - think I'll pass on that.

So, if I cancel the same day would I just end up paying the £49 - they wouldn't sneak in the second months fee or something?

"We need 30 days notice to end your contract." - this means that you'll pay for 30 days after giving a notice.

Can't tell you if they will be sneaky, but certainly you should give notice at the same time as you begin the contract, in order to avoid a second month.

Of of course it will be £49 plus the £15.99.

So if the eBay E586 is just £49, then you can go for that. But they normally go for closer to £65 on eBay.

OK thanks - I will go and do some sums.

Now if Costa Coffee had free wifi I wouldn't have needed to use my mifi and I wouldn't have left it there. Very expensive cup of coffee LOL!

    All sorted now!

I was very pleased with the help I was given in the Three Store. No hard sell and offered me the cheapest option first which was a refreshing change - will definitely be going back there.

I ended up buying the E5331 for £49.99 INCLUDING 1GB of Data which lasts a month.

They put my replacement SIMM in for me and I am back in Costa using it now. Got the White one as it's more visible LOL!
Seems to do the same job as the E586 but doesn't come with the docking charge bay and micro SD slot but that doesn't worry me as I've never used either.
Not worried about the lack of a digital readout either as my usage can be accessed through the computer anyway.

Hate to break it to you now, but...... Quidco: £12.50 for Pay As You Go
  • Assuming the SIM it came with was never put in the device, I expect you can keep it until you need the data.

I've found the 3 instore people relatively good compared to some other phone stores. It's the telephone customer service which is a bit painful.
  • Hey argos are selling tmobile's mifi device for £35.99 if you can get this unlocked then it'll save you a lot of money. apparently I cannot post links as a new user but it isn't hard to find just check out their website:)
