Just been put out of business by Ebay

Hi all-
I have been making a living on Ebay for the past year, and all has been rosy until this morning.
Early last year my son was suspended from Ebay for 3 unpaid items, he was at college at the time and couldnt keep track of his ebay purchases very well.
Anyway, logged in this morning to deal with some customers and am greeted with a 12 month suspension. It states that they believe my account to be associated with a suspended account, they did include a line telling me the name of the suspended user but helpfully excluded the name itself.
Anyway, this is a complete disaster. My ebay profits pay the bills.
I have appealed the decision to ebay, and am waiting for a reply, but wondered if anyone else has had experience with this or has any advice.
Thankyou very much,
Down and out.

:hello: Hello and Welcome to the site!
Not heard of this before, but would defo. have appealed - whats the worst that can happen.
Good luck, and let us know how you get on!0 -

Ebay are very strict with their policy on suspended users and do definitely link family members. So the fact that your son was suspended means that your own account will be deemed 'associated' and therefore suspended as well.
All you can really do is appeal, sorry.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. That sucks! Good luck with your appeal.
I was suspended for shill bidding or something a year or so ago but a groveling email did the trick.0 -
As an interim measure (if not perm) set up another account. Okay you're feedback will be zero but if you need the cash then you've no other choice. Obviously you've got a good supplier and a loyal customer base if you're making a living from it so get cracking!
If you want to accept Paypal then you'll need to set yourself up another bank account though, or use someone elses not currently tied to the suspended accounts. I would suggest either changing your ISP or using a proxy server too as it would seem they've found your connection to your son's account by doing an IP check.

If your family is gonna go hungry because of this then...
New ebay/paypal/bank accounts in friends/relatives name.
As for your IP addess being tracked not sure if it's done on your actual physical location or via the the account you have with your ISP.
Someone else will know this.
If it's the former then it's internet cafes or a friends house. If it's the latter change your ISP.
(Moglex suggests ebay don't track IP's on the thread linked above because of the difficulties of static and roaming but I've heard different elsewhere
)
But obviously start an appeal with ebay now.0 -
I haven't experienced this sort of thing personally, but appealing should work, though it may take a while. If you normally make your living from eBay they probably don't really want to lose the fees you regularly pay them. If they look at the types and volumes of transactions, they should realise that your account is in fact quite separate from your son's, and if he's been using eBay from college computers, they might be able to check the IP addresses and see that the accounts have been conducted from different computers in different places. I hope it doesn't take too long to geti t sorted.0

Name and address information will be the same though, which could be problematic. You'd need an alternative address to use, and a card registered at that address.
Ebay seem to have clamped down very hard on suspended users and associated accounts since the huge bad press they got over that antiques dealer powerseller who was up to all kinds of dodgy biz, shilling and using his ex-wife's account to bid things up etcFor where your treasure is, there will your heart be also ...0 -
that really is the pits!
I know that banks cannot financially "link" people at the same address so how come ebay are able to?
Is it another case of ebay being a complete law unto themselves and they don't come under any sort of financial regulations?
Ebay really is a house of cards."There is a light that never goes out"0 -
whatever you do make sure it is not the above. they'll track you eventually. a 12 month ban could then lead to an indefinate ban.Snooze_Control wrote: »As an interim measure (if not perm) set up another account.SC
just deal with the appeal & go from there.0
