No, I wouldn't have thought so. If you get another quote, you will just get another "administration review/quotation" search on your credit report - these are the kind that don't negatively affect your credit rating. So provided you only go through with it once, it shouldn't matter how many quotes you get.

The only negative in going back, I imagine, is you could theoretically not get the same offer again.

Thanks for that, I am tempted to do it again, with exactly the same info and see if it gives me the same offer as before because it should do.

And if it didn't it would make the whole system be a bit pointless I think.

Another question for anyone who applied and has a live account with Equifax and or Experian, which credit reference agency shows up with the soft search or did it appear on both?

Interested to know who they 'go' with so to speak, or if they checked with both.

    Hi,

Nationwide searched Experian with both the quote, and the full search. No Equifax search shown from them at all.

    Cheers
  • Nationwide seem to use Experian only, at least as far as the search goes... Not sure if they report to the others once the account is set up though.

For info, they search Experian exclusively, but do report to the others, my mortgage and flexaccount appear on Equifax and Callcredit too.

I went back and did the application form in full, signed the online agreement etc, all throughout the application it kept telling me 'we are pleased to tell you your account has been agreed - in principle' I must admit I did chuckle at the hyphen and then in principle bit but still.

Oh, got offered same credit limit and interest rate too.

At the end it asked me if I wanted to set up internet banking - another positive step do you think?

Anyway, I'm not counting my chickens before they are hatched, the last screen did say 'we're off to do some final checks etc' so it could still be a thanks but no thanks offer - which makes me wonder, when do they do the 'full fat' credit check or wouldn't I have got as far as I did (i.e signing the online agreement) if I had failed that?

Last time I had a card or a loan, there was no such thing as the internet you see ;)

I dont think I'll ever need £2800, was going to lower the slider box but thought it might have been detrimental to my chances - you dont know how these people work, they are probably thinking 'why doesn't he want £2800, what is he trying to hide?' :)

So I take it your online application went as far as mine then, with the final 'we are now going to do some final checks on your details and will be in touch' screen?
  • You'll get a letter in around a week's time saying if you're successful or not...

If you've opted to pay your statement by direct debit (and entered your bank details) then keep a lookout on your internet banking to see if the Nationwide direct debit appears in your list of direct debits - this generally happens before you get the letter :)
