Apparently, the above company started sailings from Dover to Calais a few days ago, using the ex SeaFrance ships - Berlioz, Rodin and "the other one":D.
Anyway, I cannot find any information on their prices or times of crossings, so has anyone used them yet, and if so, are they any good?
I am interested, because we used P & O for our holiday crossing this year, and the standard of their ship was absolutely disgusting and the food and drinks on board (which we luckily bypassed) were so expensive.

  • Sneaky : they're just sitting on the old Seafrance site !
  • I noticed that too! You would have thought they would start their own website..!

I came back on that route by P&O yesterday, ship was less than a year old, very clean and tidy. All ferries have expensive food and drink, like the motorway services that have a captive market.

I've not heard of myferrylink until today? Who exactly is running it? Wasn't eurotunnel interested in running it or something?

  • The french have bought the old Seafrance boats. as usual they jhave no idea of commercial activity today. Tthey do not have a website which costs almost nothing. They have no published timetable and yet on Tuesday of this week they were operating ferry services with, presumably, almost no passengers. The travel agents have immediately picked up on the new service but they also have no details available. The LD lines service to Boulogne failed because they did not advertise their service and in particular the saving in road jouney tome towards Paris. It looks as though this new service is faced with the same future only because the new directors have no idea of ruinning a business.

Eurotunnel have provided the funding (despite objections, unsurprisingly, from P & O and DFDS.

It seems the actual management is former SeaFrance, which doesn't bode well.

That remains to be seen. Commercial traffic (freight) is the year-round mainstay of Channel ferries. Hopefully, their marketing efforts on that front are more impressive.

Any additional competition on Dover routes can only be a good thing. Remember how prices have gone up (unless you travel to Dunkirk at 2 a.m. on a Tuesday morning in November maybe) since the demise of SpeedFerries.

How much of an immediate benefit My Ferry Link bring in that respect is of course debatable at £39 one-way.

I am surprised that you found the P&O boat not up to standard, which route/boat was it,
their 2 new ferries going from dover are very spacious especially the HUGE sofas in the bar area

here is a link with all the ferry companies

a 'moody' search gives a day trip on monday
    P&O £19 return

    DFDS £19 return

    myferrylink £35 return

you pays your money and takes your choice

From your findings I would choose P&O all day long, DFDS were ok but only about half the number of crossings. P&O have never been a problem if we arrive early or late at the port. Can't comment on DFDS as been on time both times with them.

As you say, you pays your money and price is the main thing I use to choose, to the extreme that as little as £1 difference would swing it for me !!
