First of all, 27col - how is that helpful? You may have never fallen for a con like this and therefore you feel very smug but in what world is that reply helpful only to feed your ego of how worldly wise you think you are? Please have some empathy.

Marie123, I really feel for you, I am in the same position, I have been struggling for ages with my finances and willingly gave over 69.95, it was only when my bank, Barclays, alerted me to the fact that Welcome Loans took the money from a bank a/c in Maurititius, I became suspicious, did some googling and found out to my dismay I had been conned. I got rid of the card I had given them and got onto them straight away, phone calls & emails and also alerted the Financial Ombudsman. It is now in their hands as I was just getting too upset/annoyed emailing & phoning them.

I'm fully aware of the fact I may never get my money back due to my naivety but it has been a lesson learned and I hope others will see our posts and steer clear. Anyway, don't be too hard on yourself, there are thousands of us that have been taken in and it sure taught me a lesson. Chin up. :D
What I said was just my take on the OP's statement about them being losers.
Whatever they are, they are not losers.
It just seemed such a ridiculous thing for the OP to call them. Almost any other expletive would have been better.
.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
• The main reason for my inital post was to raise awareness of this company and the way they operate.

Forums are a great tool for people to share experinces, offer advise and help and that was the reason I signed up here and posted about Welcome Loans.

AnnieMcDougal, Nicolafine, Apples2 and Redsaxon - thanks very much for your constructive messgages.
I'm glad to know that others have reported WelcomeLoans to the FOS as I have. If more people do the same this post will have been worthwhile.
Additonally you may be interested to know that I have also reported them to The Office of Fair Trading. Once a complaint is sent to them they will investigate and check that they are compliant with their Creditor's Licence. This may be something you would also like to do? The email address is enquiries@oft.gsi.gov.uk if you are interested.

AnnieMcDougal and Redsaxon - don't give up! Regardless of our circumstances or reasons for using them this company state in their cancellation policy that as long as you cancel in writing within 14 days they will refund the fee.
I will continue to persue this but I fear that many cut their losses, give in to them and put it down to a bad experince. They win every time.

27col - I'll be more mindful in future which adjectives I use when referring to this company. Thanks.

Meer53 - you've missed the point completely!!:rotfl:

I'm over the angry stage now...just very determined to get my refund back and, as was my initial intention, raise awareness about Welcome Loans.

I hope we get our money back eventually...

People need to remember if your credit files are shot to bits it means no one is going to lend you a penny so people should stop presuming that a google search for loans with bad credit is magically going to lend to someone who is about as trustworthy as a convicted burglar.

THERE ARE NO LOANS FOR BAD CREDIT UNLESS YOU HAVE A MUG AS A MATE WHO IS WILLING TO BE A GUARANTOR.
• Id never head of this company until a few days ago when i started getting phone calls, texts, emails and letters. When asking where these people got my details from I was given the name of welcome loans. I thought nothing of it as theres so many cold callers these days phoning about ppi and things I just chose to ignore it. however today I have notice £70 had gone from my bank account to these people! I have no idea where they even got my details from at all!! Ive never applied for a loan in my life and if I was going to apply id do it though my own bank! They have left me with £16.00 in my bank account and this is supposed to get me to and from work and feed me for a month!! I have emailed them as there office wasnt open when I tried to call. I think someone who I used to work with may have given out my details as some kind of bad joke cause they didnt like me and bags and coats are all left in a room together!! I am going to see if they reply to me and then im going to get intouch with my bank as I am sure they have the facility to return money that you havent given permission to be taken! I am so angry! Im 20 years old, live with my parents and work. I have enough money from that to live and have fun! I certainly dont need a loan!

I'd hazards guess that you gave them your card details during the phone call. Why?

They can't just have guessed your bank details. They must have got them from somewhere, so you need to investigate who has been using your bank card without your knowledge, otherwise this could happen again.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.

Im afraid your bank will not be able to help you here,if you think somebody has used your card details to attempt to commit fraud then you should contact the police.Welcomeloans wont pay the money back, they exist purely to charge that 69.95 fee in the hope people just forget about it..thats all they do.
If you genuinely did not want or need there service then you need to write to them recorded delivery stating so and make a formal complaint.
This will go unanswered or at best they will threaten to prosecute you.If after 8 weeks you have not received a satisfactory reply(you wont) contact the FOS http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/ they will then contact welcomeloans on your behalf, after 12 more weeks when you still havent received your refund you will then need to go to a small claims court.
Good luck

Please explain how i missed the point ?

The point is, you paid £70 for someone to find you a loan, you asked for a refund, you haven't received it. Calling them clowns, thieves and losers after you gave them your bank details is a bit of a joke really.

I think that maybe you missed the point when you agreed to use them. So why did you cancel ?

This forum is full of really useful information, especially about people like WelcomeLoans, maybe do a bit of research first next time eh ? It's also full of people like you who use companies like this without really understanding what they're agreeing to.

BIB - surely that's not true? I had my card details used over the internet before for a Wonga loan repayment and when I phoned my bank to report it they refunded me the money within 48 hours (it actually came in about an hour but they say 48 hours) and dealt with the fraud case on my behalf. Wouldn't this be the same situation?

No, as the OP will have given Welcome Loans their card details voluntarily. This isn't fraud.
