most likely Royal mail if smallish or parcelforce is a bit bigger, RM charge £8 and PF the same I think or £13.50 if the item is over £1000.
I doubt they will use DHL or FedEx as they are expensive and would normally not pass the parcel on to RM or PF but deliver it themselves, the fee is about the same anyway.
Most likely they will use USPS which is a good service and cheap and also comes with the added benefit that the item can miss getting custom charges too, as FedEx etc process their parcels different to USPS so nearly always get stopped for custom charges.
Also if no custom charges are made, they are not allowed to charge a handling fee either.
Nope. Lets use facts sniggings
Parcelforce chage £13.50 for express services,£8 for non express0 -
There are two charges for importing goods into the UK. They are completely different, and have different rates and minimum levels. One is vat, and the other is import duty.
Vat is due on any item over £15 - that figure includes any sum paid for postage as well. However if the item cost alone is less than £15, the postage will be ignored. If the item cost, for example £16, and the postage was another £16 on top of that, then vat would be payable on the total £32.
Import duty becomes due on items over £135. Import duty rates vary according to the type of goods - some have no import duty at all. If the amount of import duty is below £9 then it will be waived.0 -
Just as an example that may help somewhat, I recently bought two items from the USA with standard shipping at $10- I think they used UPS. The cost for the items was $25 each. I had a charge of £11.20 for the first parcel which include the £8 handling fee. The second got through without any charge.
They do miss things from time to time, so you might not have to pay anything extra.
If you're buying from the same seller I'd suggest asking them to package the items separately as the total item price on the package will be lower, and your custom fees won't be as high.0 -

it depends
better to have one package and paying 1 clearance fee
or many smaller packet that are under the customs limits,so no fee.
however higher postage costs
each buyer needs to weigh up the pros and cons0 -

These are the type of facts (and they are totally correct) that certain posters ignore or misinterpret.0 -
just checked and it is £15 but unless the VAT is greater than £9 then the fee is waived.
The £40 figure I said is when the package is for more than one person, then the allowance is £40
Gift must have been increased it now is £135 :eek:wow you out to prove me wrong or something
Customs Duty rates
In all instances Customs Duty is waived if the amount of the duty payable is less than £9.
