Hi guys,
This is my first time posting a thread. I hope its in the right place!
SO my story goes....I was on holiday when I got info that my parked car had been hit by someone insured by LV. I called LV while on holiday and explained to them that I would be back during the weekend. On returning, I realised that my car was gone and nobody knew who took it!
I called LV and they said they did not have my car. I had to take a day off work (cos I just wasn't in the right state of mind by then!) and report my car stolen to the police. I also had to start processing a theft claim via my own insurance company.
I later found out that LV had arranged for a garage to pick up my car, the man from the garage came to pick it up and according to him "someone" said he could take the car.
I have complained to LV and said I should be compensated for all the time I've lost running around reporting my car stolen while it was with their garage all along! The customer relations officer I spoke to offered me a measly £50 (increased to £100 after I suggested that they must be having a laugh!)
I cannot believe that an insurance company would think that sorry and £50 is enough to cover all the time I've spent sorting out their mess! I've had to work longer hours at work, because I need to make up for the time off work or take it out of my already little holiday bank! The only crime I seem to have committed is to park my car!
Somehow, I feel if the tables were turned and I was the one who made a mistake, these corporations would find a way to squash me! And I dont know any court of law who would let me off for taking someone's property without their permission just because "someone" said I could!
Any advice in dealing with LV would be greatly appreciated!

If you feel that way, then report them the police for theft of a motor vehicle.

What has the response from the police been?0

EverReady,
They took your car without your consent. It's theft - inform the police they have admitted it!Saving in 2013 (#98): £270/£30000 -
make a list of your all losses and claim them from LV
Getting a copy of the phone calls will probably be a good idea and help concentrate their minds0 -
Thanks for the responses so far!
They did not have my keys! And I did go back to the police to inform them of what LV did. I suppose they have decided to not take any action because I haven't heard anything else from the police.0 -

How do you know who this person is?
At a guess I would say that it is a fairly unique complaint and they would have a relatively small complaints team as they don't get that many complaints and can identify the person from there.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
