1st Credit - Barclaycard

Hi - I have spent the last few weeks reading the forums on here regarding 1st Credit. I recently received some letters from this company again after a good few years. Six years ago I went to prison for 4 years and while in there had to address a few problems - one being Barclaycard. The prison debt adviser and CAB wrote to them early in 2007 asking them to write the amount off. We heard nothing from them until a letter came from 1st Credit late in 2007. CAB adviser wrote to 1st credit asking for statements and copy of the Credit agreement - non were ever supplied. So not hearing anything I thought thats it put to bed until middle of July when I started receiving letters again - 1 introducing them - 2 threatening what they could do if I do not pay - 1 with some discount figures - 1 with a very big discount and telling me a doorstep caller will come round to discuss. After reading this forum I have sent again asking for the credit agreement - received a reply back telling me they have requested it from the OC. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated

So provided you haven't made written acknowledgement in that time the debt is Statute Barred.
  • thank you Gordon Hose. I thought the letter from the CAB acting for me may have constituted an acknowlegment?
What if they cannot provide me with a credit agreement - should I just then ignore them?

Yeah, I would. They'll try and lie to and threaten you to get you to pay. It's all hot air.
  • The letter from the CAB is written acknowledgement. They were appointed by you and the letter would have been signed.

Rather than ignoring matters always best to deal with them. Either phone or go back to the CAB.

Doesn't matter if they can't produce the credit agreement.
  • Thanks will wait and see what they send in the way of paperwork if anything and then take the next step.
  • The post said, 'none were supplied'. Key thing here is whether or not they have them now!

4 years in the nick eh...I suppose its considered bad form to enquire what for....

    Nosey arent I?
  • Hi The credit agreement would be from the middle 90s - do you think they will get a copy ??

Sorry to disappoint but can't really divulge on here what it was for needless to say it was the worse time of my life something I would not wish on anyone.
