  • Congratulations:beer:.. What an inspiring post and I am so glad I read it on the day that I have (once again) started my debt-free journey.. ;)

Can I ask how the spending diary helps you? Is it worth keeping one?

I only needed to keep one for the first month to get an idea of what I was spending and where. I could then see what was wasted spending and it helped me have an idea about what was essential spending.

A spending diary should help you realise what you're spending, then give you the tools to prepare a realistic budget. There's no need to keep it going long term IMO unless you find you're not sticking to your budget.
