Your buyer hasn't achieved anything, but has lost approx £4 (return postage) and has had a negative buying experience,in her opinion she didn't get the coat/jacket she expected and is out of pocket the return postage whilst you have the £6.30 sale money and the coat/jacket to sell again.

You ought to refund her the return postage, you will still be £2.30 in pocket and can resell the coat/jacket.

She did get the £6.30 total fee repaid but didnt get the cost of sendin g it back again. I can sell the coat again but thanks to her feedback my ratin g is down to 98.8% from 100%. I cant get it removed unless I can prove ` defamation of charac ter` which is tricky

Ah, sorry I thought she had not returned it, or that she'd said she returned it but you hadn't had it back yet. So she has and you have it now to resell I take it? At least that's something. No, not sure what she achieved except to trash your rating. :(

Perhaps you should add your own comment to her feedback to say you tried to help but buyer was abusive and forced you to let it go through resolution process.
If you can't get Ebay to remove the feedback, I would not worry unduly over it. With fairly low overall feedback scores for an obvious private seller, I doubt it will cause you too much damage and you should probably get back in the saddle (so to speak) to make a point of making sure your next sales are negative-proof so you have some great feedback up there. This will probably do more to highlight this is a complete one off by an unreasonable person than anything else.

I wouldn't refund her the return postage as Ebay has already settled the case!
Her loss, plus she's already left neg feedback.
I didn't know that Ebay would ever settle a dispute by paying a buyer 'themselves'? Interesting.
