In fact - while I'm here - there's another vent... Why does the assistant have to tell the person at the head of the queue that a self-serve till has come free exactly 0.232 seconds after the previous customer has left. Yes - I was watching and I was waiting for them to be more than a pace away before charging in behind them. Now if the head of the queue hasn't reacted in say 5 seconds, you can politely interrupt their daydream to tell them which one is free but don't get pushy.

    Now that is annoying
  • sorry i got my original post mixed up i meant that each lidl person that i have asked has been less helpful than the previous one. the first gave me loads of big boxes out of the store room and even carried them out of the store then tetrised them so that i could carry them all home. he also told me when to come back for more.

When I worked in a petrol station if the fuel was £20.01 and the customer gave my friend/colleague two £20 notes he would say it doesn't matter about the penny.

Customers thought they were getting good service but it was really because he couldn't be arsed to count out £9.99.

at the comment above I used to do that when i worked in retail - people used to be really grateful but if we ran out of pennies and couldn't give them out people used to get really annoyed!

what a difference a penny either way makes lol

In Australia we don't have 1 and 2 cent pieces, so if you pay cash it gets rounded up at 3c, and down for 2c.

I used to work at a service station, and you wouldn't believe how hard people would try to get the $10.02c of petrol, and then proudly swan in with a $10 note! And god they complained if is was 3c. You would see them just miss it... then try to get the 7c... and then 12c...

    quite funny!

My local filling station has a "penny" pot for when the pump randomly decides to add a penny or two, feel free to take from the pot.

Although what is 1p when your fill-up comes to £50 these days?
