I find it interesting that those with MH issues who post and people say

"its not a disability if you can go out sometimes", "I am stressed yet still work" etc are jumped on.

You read time and time again that you can't compare, each are different.

Yet this lady has PMT and whilst I don't suffer from it, it can certainly be a barrier to work, be painful (those with PMT often have greater pain and heavier bleeds), be draining, stop people sleeping etc.

PMT is nothing to do with the bleeding etc its the mental side of the menstrual cycle. Dysmenorrhea is the painful period and heavy bleeding

some ideas OP on this link as to what to do to get a result and maybe some things to look into with the doctor

when I went on the pill all my pmt symptoms disappeared because your hormones are regulated. Have you tried that?

I once watched a programme about a woman who was let off from killing someone (it may have been her husband cant remember now) because of PMT.

working with the public is never easy, I'm not sure you can blame all these feeling on PMT, I know I had most of them when working with the public, and I don't get PMT
;) customers can be rude for no reason but for a customer to call you a " stroppy effing cow" is extreme and I have a feeling you probably were less than polite, given what you have said you suffer from.

Maybe a different job would be part of the answer, ESA is very hard to get, getting ratty with customers would not do it.
I can assure you on that occasion I was polite. I asked( not shouted) politely for him to wait until I had finished serving (as in actively putting things through the till) my customer. He didnt want to wait, I said I would be 2 secs. He wanted serving there and then.

I'd love to know how you can say I can't blame my feelings on PMT. Some months there are THREE WEEKS of being like a psychotic looney. I've served THOUSANDS of customers, I've only ever made a derogatary remark to ONE of them. I think I've held it together quite well to be honest.

They *can* often go side by side. I have never had a monthly for 20 years (contraception stops this) so can't comment at all personally, but friends who have PMT report more problems than just plain PMT. They also have depression and low moods etc during this time.

My point I was making (and badly I think :rotfl:) is that people suffer individually so why is this OP being made to feel in earlier posts like it isn't a "big deal" or illness/disability when someone with "stress, anxiety or depression" is given differing advice?

Just seems weird to me that someone with a mental health illness who said they have low mood and violent tendencies would be given a different asnwer to someone who has similar symptons - just caused by hormones.

Sorry but PMT/S is not also depression and low moods it IS all of them things.

However PMT/S and Dysmenorrhea are not the same and some women have neither, and some may only have one or the others. Both are seperate and need seperate treatment or you just have to grin and bare it.
  • You asked this question over a week ago. Have you asked your GP for a referral in the meantime?

Ok I did say I know nothing about it :rotfl:

So why is OP not been given the same advice as others who have depression etc?
