Phone died..02 contact till 2013..need handset

hi
my motorola razor has just died
i know very little about phones.
i have a basic o2 contract till march 2013 when i will almost certainly go onto giff gaff payg .
Not sure whether to get a cheapy phone or a cheapy smartphone.
any good deals at the moment on cheapish smartphones
any replies appreciated

If the op had a razor its very basic, op goto carphonewarehouse and get a cheap pay as you go as they are unlockedDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Buy S/h either unlocked or locked to your network, transfer the SIM and marvel how MSE you were!0
