ESA after 13weeks

Hello
I am a bit confused about ESA benefit ,so could anybody explain what happens , since 21/2/2012 I started my ESA benefit and still send to ESA my sicknote when the last one finished ,so my q. Is why they not send me to the main phase after 13weeks and still send to them asicknote ?

You continue in the assessment phase until a decision is made on whether you meet the ESA criteria, this may involve you having to attend an ATOS assessment.

If, when the decision is made, you are awarded ESA then it should be backdated to the start of week 14.

Delays is the simple answer. Keep sending the sicknotes... the first you will likely know your assessment is starting is when you get ESA50 form to complete and return to ATOS HC who may thereafter deem a face to face medical necessary. You will get your WCA but it still could be many weeks away. For financial purposes the assessment phase does last 13 weeks... so if you get your WCA and pass it then backdating will occur to beginning week 14. When you have passed the WCA should you stop sending the sicknotes. If you don;t pass the WCA return here.

In the meantime you could get a head start. The ESA50 form will take a while to complete and must be sent in the post. However there is a pdf version available online that you could take a copy of and start... you'll need to ultimately print the form out and sign/date it if you later use it when assessment begins. If filling in the form would advise having the descriptors for WRAG and Support Group at your side so you give relevant information that the form often doesn't seem to prompt for.

I was speaking with my husband about what u posted and he said when he apply to get ESA benefit ,they sent him a letter confirm he was accepted and then send him a form to fillin and return ,now do you mean this form should to fillin ?

The ESA50 form should be returned within the 4 weeks after receiving one through the post from ATOS HC... so obviously wait until then. It's unlikely he's referring to an ESA50 form... certainly if he was only just initially applying for the benefit. The ESA50 form is a comprehensive form asking about health and specific problems.

Yes that it was ,it was about health and another things ,he got this form since long time and he sent it back to them but till now we didn't hear anything from ATOS?
Is there some thing wrong ?or what cos as I told we send the form since more than five months

Have you shown him the form in the link above? I don't want to speculate on what is happening unless he clarifies that is definitely a form he has completed and returned to ATOS HC. It sounds unlikely to be this form from the dates given... it'd mean he got it within first month of a new claim.

Some people do get ESA50 very quickly.

Some people do have to wait ages for a WCA

Phone ATOS on 0800 2888777 they open till 8pm
option 1 for English
then option 3 for 'anything else' ( you could try option 2 for appoinments I don't suppose it really matters.)

Ask them when your partners WCA will be, they should be able to give you some information even if only to confirm that they are not aware of his claim...if they are not aware of the claim then you should phone ESA tomorrow.
