Cupboard near to combi boiler

I had a kitchen installed after a boiler, and there is a boiler on a wall near a corner, and a cupboard on the other wall, with the side of the cupboard 24cm from the front of the boiler. Worcester Bosch say the bopiler needs 60cm clear space in front for servicing. So, would any heating engineers here refuse to service the boiler, or not be able to service it?

I will contact the kitchen company. One solution is to replace the double cupboard with a single one, something I coud probably do. removing the cupboard is a pain as there is a power lead coming out of the wall, and that would have to be terminated safely somehow were no replacement to go up.

My combi boiler is in the corner of kitchen, when a new kitchen was fitted he made a cupboard to fit around it. It's just a simple standard single door and matching blank side panel only 48cm deep. the clearance from opening the door to the front of the boiler is only 12cm. A couple of years later a new boiler (an Ariston), was fitted and there has been no problems with servicing.
60cm sounds a lot, i'd check on that. Why ?

Cos WB say so in the manual. You do not have the same situation. You have lots of clear space in front once the door is open. I don't. :)

The small amount of space you have in front of it would make it nigh on impossible for any engineer to get in front of it to access it properly.

You may get away with a basic service, but if parts need replacing, then you may find yourself having to remove the facing kitchen cupboard.
  • Have to agree with G4Y. Im not sure what the kitchen company will say other than tough unless you pursue it. It happens a lot, usually its gas meters stuck in kitchen units and the installers cut tiny little windows to read the meter or they build a cupboard around the boiler that needs to be dismantled to work on the boiler. End of the day they should really have asked you for the boilers instructions or used some common sense.
