    Morning all

Tru/Hilstep - some of the Rosemary Conely fitness DVDs have chairobics sections, I picked some up for a couple of quid in Morrisons.
Nlj - glad DS move went ok

Cloudy with rain expected today :( so looks like it will be an indoor day for me. I may pop out to the shops, it's payday so I normally do my food shop but only need a few bits. However I'm contemplating spending £20 on essentials (pasta/rice/tinned toms/beans etc) to really bulk out my storecupboard ready for winter.

Other than that my only plans for today are to go for another jog, and then apply for a few jobs I've seen online. I also need to write a complaint to Halifax. I went in branch to change my address and order a new chequebook a month ago, and no chequebook came. So after 2 weeks I rung again and cancelled it and re-ordered. That one didn't arrive either. Turns out they only updated my account address, not my correspondance address  Why they need 2 is beyond me?! And why wasn't it picked up when I rung 2nd time?! Luckily I don't need the chequebook (I did at the time, but transfered money around so my mum could write the cheque instead) but I'm very worried at the lack of security.

OS wise - going to strip bed but won't do washing til later in week due to weather. I want to put my big map up on the wall, and some more pictures. I may batch cook a veggie curry and veggie chilli. Or have a look at other recipes. May as well be useful if I'm stuck indoors!

    Have a good day all

    Morning all,

Had a terrible nights sleep OH was snoring so bad, I ended up in dd'd bed at 1.30 (dd was out for the night) so did not get up till 9 this morning :D, feel better for it though.

Got to nip into town later, will meet dd to bring her home, I also need to get my sis a birthday present, and look at blinds / material for the lounge.

Dad had a lovely tea party at the home, I had made 2 cakes, mum had bought one and the home had made one :D so lots of cake was consumed :rotfl:

Dinner tonight will be a cottage pie, the base is made, so just need to do the mash.

NLJ well done to you, I hope your son is very happy there xxx

Morning all, dull here too but dry so I will put washing on line in a minute. Had a great day with my family yesterday but now need to get on with house and garage tidying as I'm back to school in less than 2 weeks:eek: Going to hit the garage today as we are buying bikes to get fit and need somewhere to store them. Hugs to all in need nlj glad your son is now settled and I certainly think you need a day doing your own thing... enjoy. Have a good day all:)

I hope that everyone has been keeping well and that I haven't missed too much.
We got back from our hols last night. Ended up borrowing SIL's caravan at Billing, it is close to a lake. It was a lovely break and we didn't realise just how much we needed it, the added bonus was that the weather was gorgeous, hot and sunny all week.
So today I have piles and piles of washing to do. I will get DD to iron it tomorrow for me. DH is still on holiday and has decided that he is going to get some outstanding jobs done this week, he goes back next Tuesday.
It is DD's birthday today, hard to believe that she is 23  the years really do fly by.
She is going to Whipsnade zoo with her BF for the day and then she is having a small get together here with a few friends tonight.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

    Hi all.

Sorry for not posting yesterday; I was laid up all day with a filthy migraine.:( Managed to feed and walk the dogs, but nothing else.

Just psyching myself up for a meeting with architect for the school extension. Told the chickens all about it this morning, though they were more interested in the snails i gave them for breakfast.
That's the great thing about animals - you can tell them all your woes and worries, safe in the knowledge that they won't think any less of you, and won't blab about it to all and sundry.:D I hope the chickens enjoyed their brekkie *shudders at the thought of snails* Oh, and best of luck with the meeting.;)

I've given Derek and Clive a good brushing this morning, so they're less than impressed with me.:D They did need it, though; specially Derek, as he's smaller he tends to pick up more detritus in his coat when we go for walkies.:o

Thank goodness it's a tad cooler today - I really couldn't cope with that heat!

Ooh, I nearly forgot - Hoppy Birdday to BB's DD:beer:

  • Have been out and fed the hens, sent a dozen eggs to work with DH (half a dozen each ordered by two of his colleagues at £1 a time), packed up some lunch and taken the baby blackberrying. He's rolling around on a blanket while I get scratched to bits :)
If you lend someone £20 and never see them again, it was probably £20 well spent...

...I attempted the onion plait yesterday - what a mess :D I'll give it one more go today, if it doesn't work I'll hang them in old tights...

I'm not brave enough to try a plait with my lotty onions so will be storing them in tights a la Tru - do you tie a knot in between each onion?

    Good Afternoon All
Up at silly o'clock collecting friends at 4.30 to take them to airport! Did slip back to bed for an hour or so on getting back home so don't feel too shattered - yet! have taken my broken steam mop back to Asd*, but the local branch don't stock it, so offered me a refund instead. Means I had the use of it for free for three months! Would like another as so much easier than a mop and bucket, but think a slightly more robust model is called for. Anyway, no cash to spare just yet, so back to my more traditional mop for a while.
DS sent panicky text in early hours about not being able to cope...wish he could get his move sorted out as I'm sure that's at the bottom of it all. Fingers crossed he manages to get himself out and about at some point today. have offered to go up and help him pack, but he needs to sort the details and get a date first. Nij- so glad your son's move went so well!
Have done some wiping down of woodwork and cleaning of mirrors etc, but not a lot else yet. Supper will be some frozen lasagne left over from last week with salad I think.
Managed to get my wool sorted yesterday, and had very apologetic call from the Rowan rep at JL today. Just hope the other balls knit up ok now - although she has put aside some from the relevant see lot in case of a further problem.
Oh well, must get a shift on and do something! Take care Al.

    Good afternoon nmlc and all,

a bit of a slow start for me today. I'm waiting for a phone call to confirm hubbys next job so fingers crossed for me please that it comes off or i can see a long stretch of unemployment ahead of him. Good news is that the pay will be good but its in the centre of London which is not such good news and it will be a 10 hour shift, which means he will be tired and grumpy on a weekend. The job will run until Christmas.

New medication working brilliantly. I dont think i am going to have to see my GP again apart from putting in a request for a repeat prescription which i am really pleased about.

Lamb for tea tonight, we were having it last night but i changed my mind at the last minute.

Oh well, we will see what the afternoon brings.

Hugs to all (i'd offer a helping hand if i could find the motivation).

Yes tie a knot, then you can use them from the bottom. Cut just below each knot each time you want to use one and the rest will be left hung up.

Wooohooo I plaited! :rotfl: I couldn't get the hang of it before, but it seemed to 'click' today and I found it easy. I'll take a pic later.

I put 3 onions on the table with the leaves pointing towards me. Started plaiting, adding a new onion each time I brought a leaf to the middle. I'm not explaining this very well - I used to do miss tru's hair in a french plait, I just pretended I was doing that :D

I used string for the little onions, there weren't enough leaves to plait. I don't even know how to begin explaining how I did those, lol. I'll try but it probably won't make sense - I tied the string to make a big loop, tied one end of the loop to an onion stalk. Then wrapped the string around another onion, parted the two bits of string near the stalk and passed the other end of the loop through it. Repeat til it's as long as you want it. It doesn't feel very strong as you're doing it but the weight of each onion keeps each loop tight.
