O/S Daily Tues 21st August

O/S Tuesday 21st August 2012 Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 21st August. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in,put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly butif not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Cloudy and overcast here this morning, but still quite warm. DH up and off to work stupid early. Washing on line already.

Work as expected was a manic Monday - hoping today will be less busy, we'll see!! Boys went out with my parents yesterday and are going back today, they will be finding something to do/see no doubt. I'm dropping them off when I go to work shortly.

Dinner last night was spag bol, tonight will be fish, chips/jacket pot, beans/veg. Did a small shop when I'd finished work yesterday, was in desperate need of milk, bread, fresh veg, fruit etc, so bought several bits and used some coupons, spent £25 ish - that will keep us going until proper shop on Friday - which won't be a massive shop either as have reasonable storecupboard/freezer stocks, and there are several bits that I want to get used up.

Have huge pile of ironing as have managed to get most of the holiday washing done, all line dried as it's been so hot here, will be tackling this on my days off, hopefully it will be a bit cooler then too. Will be purchasing boys school shoes this week too.

Have a good day, stay safe and well x

  • Good morning all,
Dull here today but still very muggy.
We are hoping to get the girls bedroom split (large bedroom) in the next few weeks. Yesterday hubby suggested we start going through cupboards, wardobes etc to make it a bit easier. I could not believe the amount of rubbish we had. It makes you feel quite good to have a mass clearout though.
Today i have hospital at 12 and dd has dentist at 2.30, she has to have a filling.
I have got to go shopping at some point today. Got to pick french beans from the allotment. I noticed yesterday when we nipped over there, there are loads. Ironing has to be done too.
Tea tonight is vegetable curry, made a couple of weeks ago and put in the freezer.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

Just having cuppa before spring er shuffling into action, getting dressed and going downstairs.

Made packup for dd who enjoyed the potato veggie cakes last night and asked for one on a sandwich with salad. Dishwasher emptied and reloaded and will make me and dh a boiled egg and toast and clear up before builder arrives at 9a.m.

Might use up veg in home made soup for tonight with HM rolls and sausages. Lunch will be YS prawn cocktail and salad sandwiches.

Fingers crossed the spare washing machine we dragged out of garage yesterday, cleaned up and plumbed in will work. Might have to hover over it to make sure spin cycle comes on.

Youngest may be going shopping with friend and I want to buy her a pink frying pan to match the saucepans I got in Al*i but will wait till tomorrow and go into York as there is a market stall I like that day.

Can't believe she will be at university in less than four weeks.

Hugs to all and have a good day.

    Morning all,

Overcast in the suburbs, but stillvery warm. Just psyching myself up for a meeting with architect for the school extension. Told the chickens all about it this morning, though they were more interested in the snails i gave them for breakfast.

Made a start on the back garden last night, the front is pretty much ok. Not really sure what i am doing, but just want to get all the shrubs and growing things cut back so that we can manage them and keep them tidy. Am going to have a huge compost heap by the end of it, or quite a few trips to the local dump!

    take care all
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow.. :p

    Morning all,
I was going to start the daily, but went and did "Chairobics" instead!:rotfl:

Feel better now that I've done some exercise. I found this on Fitness TV, and it's really :rotfl:ood for me. You do it all on a dining room chair, and it's a good work out, but not hard if you can't move much.

Dentist at 10.15. Six month check up:rotfl:, then getting my nails done.

Had pasta last night, not sure what I'm having today.

    Have a good day everyone!

    Morning everyone

Dull here, too, but some washing out and next load nearly done. Got loads of ironing to do as well.

Trying to have a stay-at-home day today, want to bottom the kids' room and sort out more things/clothes for CS.

If it doesn't get too humid, I'm going to bake with the littlies this afternoon, we've run out of things to nibble and I'm determined not to buy biscuits, etc., for the time being.

Have a good day all, hugs and kisses to the poorlies/in need, sorry if I've missed any bad/sad news!

    Morning :hello:

Exercise on a chair? Sounds perfect :D Shame Fitness TV isn't on Virgin

I've managed to get most of the housework done already. Everyone else is at work - one left at 7, one at 7.45 and one at 8.30. The bathroom is finally free so I can get dressed, one more coffee first though.

I attempted the onion plait yesterday - what a mess :D I'll give it one more go today, if it doesn't work I'll hang them in old tights.

I haven't started the shoe rack yet so I'll have a go today.

Morning all, we moved my son yesterday!!!! it's so great! I am so happy! It was incredibly hard work on Saturday when we moved in the big furniture and white goods as it was so hot and we were doing it ourselves! We all got a bit dehydrated despite drinking loads of water. then yesterday we moved my son and his bedroom. He was an absolute star......he was so excited that the day was finally here. I glowed with pride the whole day. By the time we left it looked like a real home. there's still some stuff to sort out, but we did it! Can't believe it. So relieved and as you may have guessed slightly hysterical!
After 3 months of racing around to sort this and some other problems to do with him (meetings with his funding body, Housing Benefit Tribunal, incidents in his current placement) I may just spend today doing whatever takes my fancy. the house needs cleaning top to toe and there's work to catch up on and the garden to get back under control and loads of decluttering to do. But now I know I have time again. So I think a day of not feeling I HAVE to do something would be such a luxury.
Best wishes to all who are having a tough time.
